    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of a stable molten metal surface at the initial stage of casting by changing a control pattern of the molten metal surface level in accordance with starting condition. SOLUTION: An operation part 8 inputs the molten steel surface level L from a molten steel surface level decision part 6 and also, starts the count of time. The molten steel surface level L is compared with a control starting level, target level Lh at the initial stage, control starting time and forcedly control starting time previously inputted from a setting part S. When the molten steel surface level L reaches the target level Lh at the initial stage within the control starting time, an opening degree adjusting quantity Ka of opening degree adjusting mechanism 3 is obtd. as the molten steel supplying rate and inputted into a driving controller 7. When the molten steel surface level L does not reach the target level Lh at the initial stage within the control starting time, but reaches the control starting level L1 before the forcedly control starting time, the opening degree adjusting mechanism 3 is adjusted in accordance with a prepared ramp state control target level. When the molten steel surface level L does not reach the control starting level L1 even at the time of coming to the forcedly control starting time, the whole closing signal of the nozzle 10 is outputted to the opening degree adjusting mechanism 3 to stop the casting.

    • PURPOSE:To automatically detect molten metal surface level with high accuracy and high responsiveness by grasping output variation of electromagnetic coil in an automatic follow-up type molten metal surface detecting instrument as variation of the molten metal surface level and adding the variation of the level of molten metal surface to positional signal of the electromagnetic coil. CONSTITUTION:Above the molten metal surface in a mold, the electromagnetic coil 5 is supported with ascent/descent driving device. The instrument 6 for detecting inductance of the coil at the time of generating eddy current in the molten metal with the electromagnetic coil 5 and level transmitters 13, 14 for measuring height position of the coil and transmitting conversion value of the molten metal surface level, are provided. Further, the molten metal surface level detecting instrument have comparison controllers 7, 8 for comparing the detected signal from the inductance detecting instrument 6 with the reference value and executing the height position control of the electromagnetic coil 5 according to difference value. A distance conversion computing element 15 for introducing the signal from the inductance detecting instrument 6 and converting the fine variation quantity into height distance variation quantity and an adder 16 transmitting the addition result of the distance variation quantity from the computing element 15 and the level conversion value from the level transmitters 13, 14 as the molten metal surface level signal are provided to the molten metal surface level detecting instrument.
