CONSTITUTION:Before refining the molten iron tapped from a blast furnace into molten steel, Si is oxidized to be converted into slag beforehand and steel making refining efficiency in a converter is improved. In this case, as oxidizing desiliconizing reaction of Si in the molten iron is further improved in the effect thereof as the temp. of molten iron is lower, in order to lower the temp. of molten iron, by adding the cold iron raw material with the quantity Sc shown in the equation 1 the temp. of molten iron is lowered to the suitable temp. the desiliconizing reaction. Successively, under condition of gaseous oxygen ratio [gaseous oxygen quantity/(gaseous oxygen quantity + oxygen quantity in iron oxide) X 100] shown in the equations 2, 3, the desiliconizing treatment is executed to the molten iron. The desiliconizing treatment in the molten iron can be efficiently executed with a small quantity of the oxidizer in a short time and temp. adjustment at the time of steelmaking refining in the converter subsequent to this is facilitated.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the macro and micro segregation and center porosity of a billet by maintaining the surface temp. of the billet on the side nearer the mold side than the unsolidified front end at a prescribed temp. and reducing the part near the unsolidified front end according to the rate of shrinkage on solidification and making face support. CONSTITUTION:The billet 3 conducted from a mold 1 of a continuous casting machine to guide rolls 2... is passed through a walking bar type face supporting member 4 and while the part near the unsolidified front end of the billet 3 is grasped by the face, the billet is reduced according to the volume which shrinks on solidification. The casting of the ingot having no macro and micro segregation and center porosity is thus made possible.
