摘要： PURPOSE: To produce a paper in improved drainage rate, yield and paper strength while suppressing the staining of the paper-making system by using a water-soluble aluminum salt and a neutral sizing agent for paper-making consisting of a rosin ester and chitosan. CONSTITUTION: A neutral sizing agent for paper-making is prepared from (A) a rosin substance consisting of (i) a rosin and (ii) a reaction product containing a rosin ester and produced by the reaction of a rosin with at least one kind of polyhydric alcohol such as glycerol or said polyhydric alcohol and at least one kind of an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or its derivative such as maleic anhydride and containing >=10wt.% of the rosin ester based on the sum of the components (i) and (ii) and (B) a chitosan having a deacetylation degree of 40-100% and a molecular weight of 2,000-500,000 and/or its salt. This neutral sizing agent and a water-soluble aluminum salt are added to a pulp slurry of pH6.5-9 and a paper is produced from the slurry. As an alternative, the paper is produced by using the rosin substance in a state separated from the chitosan and the water-soluble aluminum salt.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a sizing agent enabling excellent start-up of sizing operation, exhibiting excellent sizing performance, facilitating the setting of paper-making condition and free from staining of paper machine. CONSTITUTION:This sizing agent for making a neutral paper is produced by mixing an aqueous dispersion containing a rosin substance containing at least one kind of rosin esters and their reinforced materials with an aqueous dispersion containing alkylketene dimers. This invention also relates to the sizing agent, sizing method and sized paper. The sizing degree can be controlled by the mixing ratio of the aqueous dispersions. Since these aqueous dispersions are stable in separated state compared with the mixed state, the dispersions are stored in separated state and mixed with each other at need to prevent the deterioration of the dispersion stability.

SOLUTION: This mechanical pulp-contg. paper is such one as to contain >=5 wt.% of mechanical pulp sized with a neutral sizing agent and also contain 0.03-1 wt.%, based on the mechanical pulp, of an additive comprising a cationic polymer, a vinyl-based copolymer composed of the respective constituent units corresponding to 50-95 wt.% of a hydrophobic monomer such as styrene-based monomer and 5-50 wt.% of cationic monomer(s) consisting of tertiary amino group-bearing monomer and/or quaternary ammonium salt-bearing monomer and containing a quaternary ammonium salt as well. The other objective method for producing mechanical pulp-contg. paper comprises using the above-mentioned additive and the cationic polymer at the aforementioned amount and sizing with a neutral sizing agent at pH 6-9.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an additive for paper retaining performance of a conventional additive in spite of including a reduced amount of DCP (1,3-dichloro-2- propanol) which is a reaction product of an epihalohydrin with an amide compound obtained by reacting a specific monocarboxylic acid and/or a specific derivative of a monocarboxylic acid with a polyalkylene polyamine, and to provide paper including the additive. SOLUTION: The additive for paper which is the reaction product of the amide compound and the epihalohydrin is obtained by using a reaction solvent such as water or a mixed solvent of water and an organic solvent, and (i) reacting the amide compound with the epihalohydrin at 40-55 deg.C and then (ii) reacting the compounds at 70-100 deg.C, and (iii) keeping the amount of the epihalohydrin to the active hydrogen of the remaining amino group in the amide compound to 0.5-1.2 equivalent.

Styrene and/or a styrene derivative and a (meth)acrylic acid ester in the total of both the substances of 20-99 wt.% and 80-1 wt.% of a polyfunctional cross-linkable monomer such as divinylbenzene are subjected to emulsion polymerization in the presence of the polymer dispersant to give the objective slip resisting agent for paper of emulsion type.
