    • PURPOSE:To improve weld line following accuracy by picking up a weld line and a temp. distribution in the direction to cross it as images by an ITV camera and an infrared camera and composing the images to control to fit a temp. peak point to the weld line. CONSTITUTION:The ITV camera 1 and the infrared camera 2 are installed on the unwelding side of a weld zone 3, namely, the outside of a steel pipe 4. The camera 1 picks up the weld line 5 which is an edge butt part as an image from the outside and the camera 2 picks up the temp. distribution in the direction to cross the weld line 5 as an image and the images 6 and 8 are projected on CRTs 7 and 9 respectively. Both picture signals are inputted to an image mixing circuit 10 and the image composing processing is performed so that the image 6 passes through a peak point of the image 8 on a monitor TV 11 and welding equipment is driven and controlled by a CPU 12 by its composite signal. Since the weld line can be simply controlled regardless of a weld line state, the following accuracy of the weld line is improved and a control system is simplified.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a specified retaining function while relative movement between a joint main body and a metallic pipe followed by change in temperature is being permitted by providing both each ring shaped elastic seal member which is elastically in contact with the outer circumferential surface of the metallic pipe and each ring shaped retaining member provided with a plurality of locking pawls in its circumferential direction, which are inclined so as to be projected much more as they go forward. SOLUTION: When a metallic pipe 1 is inserted in a joint main body 2 so as to be pushed in from each pipe insertion opening 5 in which an elastic seal member 3 is fitted, locking pawls 4B... of each retaining member 4 are elastically deformed outward in the radial direction, and the locking-pawls 4B... easily ride across an annular groove part 1A formed over the outer circumferential surface of the metallic pipe 1 so as to be smoothly inserted to a depth as specifed. In a pipe connected condition that the metallic pipe 1 is inserted to a specified depth while pushing force is exhausted, the tip end parts of the locking pawls 4B... are elastically in contact with pressure with the smooth outer circumferential surface of the metallic pipe 1 at the deeper side from the groove part 1A, relative movement with the joint main body 2 caused by the extension and contraction of the metallic pipe 1 followed by change in temperature, is permitted, however, a retaining function is exhibited by means of the engagement of the locking pawls 4B... with the annular groove 1A.

    • PURPOSE:To allow a highly efficient manufacture of a large square steel pipe with high accuracy by forming a circular steel pipe to an almost square shape, after then, pressing it from its inner surface and finishing it to the prescribed square shape. CONSTITUTION:A circular welded steel pipe 1 obtained with welding after UO forming is roughly press-formed to an almost square shape with a press dies 2d and 2b being arranged in an axial symmetry with respect to this steel pipe 1. Further, the corner part is pressed from its inner side with a head 3 of a pipe expanding machine, and is finished to the prescribed shape and dimension. Because of utilizing an UOE process being the mass production process for steel pipe, the manufacture of the large square steel pipe can be highly efficiently executed at a low cost. And by roughly press-forming the circular steel pipe 1 to the almost square shape before the pipe expansion, while reducing a pipe expanding stroke of this pipe expanding machine, the accuracy of dimension of the corner part and the plain part can be improved.
