    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an (α+β) type titanium alloy sheet not only small in intra-plane anisotropy of strength but also excellent in surface property and appearance and small in distortion. SOLUTION: Hot cross rolling is applied to an ingot or a rough shape billet is packed under vacuum, the ingot is take from an envelope after cooling, a release agent is removed by executing pickling treatment and washing is executed within 5min after the completion of the pickling treatment. Before the pickling treatment, heat treatment is executed without taking out the sheet from the envelope. Also, before the pickling treatment, hot creep correcting treatment is executed without taking out the sheet from the envelope. In threeabove-mentioned methods, a mixed liquid of the hydrofluoric acid 1-10wt.% and the nitric acid of 1-20wt.% is used as a pickling liquid and the sheet is dipped for 0.5-20min. In this way, the (α+β) type titanium alloy sheet excellent in the surface property and surface appearance, small in the distortion is smaller, small in the intra-plane anisotropy of strength and excellent in isotropy is manufactured.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a warpage in a clad steel plate by joining single metallic plates which are the same in thickness and width and are specified in length to the front and rear ends of the clad steel plate and subjecting the clad steel plate to a heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:Such single metallic plates 2 which are approximately the same in the thickness and width as the clad steel plate 1 consisting of a base metal 11 and a cladding metal 12 and has the length l satisfying the equation are joined to the front and rear ends of the clad steel plate 1. In the equation, sigmar is the yield strength (kg/mm ) of the cladding metal; t1 is the thickness (mm) of the cladding metal; rho is the density (kg/mm ) of the metallic pieces for restraining. This clad steel plate with the wide having the large coefft. of linear expansion (for example, the cladding metal 12) faced downward is loaded into a heating furnace 3 and is thereby heated. The clad steel plate taken out of the furnace 3 is turned upside down and is cooled in a water cooler 4. The generation of the warpage in the clad steel plate 1 is thereby prevented. The clad steel plate does not warp even when worked with a roller leveling machine.
