      CONSTITUTION: When the lubricating oil 5 which fills the gap 4 between a stanchion tube 2 and a propeller shaft 3 leaks from a packing 8, said lubricating oil 5 is floated-up by the difference of specific gravity from that of the sea water and collected inside the vicinity of a large-diameter edge part 10' of a gird ring 10, since the upper parts of the sealing bodies 6 and 7 are covered by the gird ring 10 in circular truncated cone from. The leak of the lubricating oil 5 is detected by a proper sensor, and an ON/OFF valve 15 for remote control installed in the vicinity of a penetration hole 11 is opened, and the lubricating oil is introduced into a bilge well 13 through a conduit 14 by opening a manual ON/OFF valve 16 at a certain time intervals, and then recovered.

    • PURPOSE: To carry-out the maintenance and inspection work for a sea chest from the inside of a hull by forming an airtight chamber through an airtight door continuously to the sea chest and installing an airtight door between the airtight chamber and a double bottom and connecting a compressed-air feeding and discharging means to the sea chest and the airtight chamber.
      CONSTITUTION: A sea chest 1 is formed between a ship bottom 3 and a double bottom 4, and an airtight chamber 5 is arranged contiguously through an airtight door 6. Another airtight door 7 is installed between the airtight chamber 5 and the double bottom 4, and the compressed-air feeding pipes 9 and 10 and a compressed-air discharge pipe 12 are connected to the sea chest 1 and the sirtight chamber 5. After the compressed air is introduced into the sea chest 1, the compressed-air is introduced also into the airtight chamber 5, and an operator gets into the sea chest 1 from an airtight door 6, and the maintenance and inspection work for the sea chest 1 can be carried-out from the inside of the ship.
