    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disable an optical fiber to easily be put back into an optical transmission state and to reduce the possibility of forgery by providing polarization plane maintaining optical fibers which are so constituted as to rotate the planes of polarization of incident lights as the lights propagation, and recording information by cutting them partially. SOLUTION: The polarization plane maintaining optical fibers 3 are twisted so that when lights in single mode are transmitted, the planes of polarization of the transmitted lights rotated as the lights propagation and then embedded in the optical fiber card 1 curvedly nearby the position where punch holes 5-1 and 5-2 are bored so as to put the optical fibers in an optical nontransmission state. Even when the punch holes bored in this card 1 are filled with optically transmitting substance such as a transparent optical UV adhesive, this card 1 has the polarization plane maintaining optical fibers 3 twisted and embedded, so the lights which are projected from the optical fibers 3 and transmitted into the optically transmitting substance filling the punch holes is never made incident again since its plane of polarization is not matching.

    • PURPOSE:To realize efficient acceleration/deceleration control by setting the magnetic force at the opposite ends of a linear air gap higher than that at the intermediate part and to reduce the size of yoke by preventing magnetic saturation at the opposite ends thereof. CONSTITUTION:A linear motor comprises permanent magnets 26, 27 for forming a unilateral field in a linear air gap so that flux is produced on the inside of U-type yokes 25a', 25b' while traversing a movable coil 28. When the permanent magnet 26 is composed, at the opposite ends 261, 263 thereof, of samarium cobalt magnets having higher magnetic force than a ferrite magnet, a strong thrust(reverse thrust) against acceleration(deceleration) is obtained at the opposite ends. The constant speed part, i.e., the central part, of the permanent magnet 26 is composed of a ferrite magnet 262 having weaker magnetic force than the samarium cobalt magnet thus reducing the profile of the yoke.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent crosstalk from being generated even when a convergent lens is driven for tracking by taking out a focusing control signal by using an edge mirror and a two-divided light receiving diode. CONSTITUTION:Three 0th and + or -1st order light beams are reflected on a recording medium 12, converged on a convergent lens 10, splitted by a beam splitter 7 and narrowed down by a light receiving lens 13 and an edge mirror 19 is inserted in the almost middle of these three beams so as to straightly advance the half of the 0th order diffracted light and the +1st order diffracted light and to reflect the remained half of the 0th order diffracted light and the -1st order diffracted light on the edge mirror. The straightly advanced light and the reflected light is received by light receiving diodes 20 and 21. The focusing control signal and an information signal can be obtained by synthesizing the light receiving outputs of the respective 0th order diffracted beams or the light receiving outputs of the both 0th order diffracted beams and a tracking control signal can be obtained by differentially synthesizing the light receiving outputs of the +1st order diffracted beam and the light receiving output of the -1st order diffracted light. Thus, an optical head can be obtained without the crosstalk even when executing tracking by driving the convergent lens 10.

    • PURPOSE:To increase recording capacity by making a reflected beam from an optical information recording medium of a recording and reproducing light spot and plural tracking light spots incident on a photodetector and selecting two outputs out of plural tracking electric outputs from the photodetector to generate a tracking control signal. CONSTITUTION:Plural spots for recording/reproducing and tracking information are projected on an optical information recording medium to record information on an information track 2. Plural information tracks 6 are formed between two guide tracks 2 on the optical information recording medium, and the reflected light from each track is detected by a photodetector to reproduce information. A photodetector 20 consists of one information detecting element and plural pairs of track follow-up elements, and one pair of track follow-up elements are selected, and signals from these selected elements are used to perform the tracking control. When another pair of track follow-up elements are selected, the information detecting element reads out information from another information track. Thus, the recording capacity is increased without changing an optical card.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an information record capacity of an optical card from being reduced or a recording reproduction time from being increased due to a track jump action, by effecting the track jump action at a section where the optical card relatively moves to an optical head at a constant speed when a relative travel speed of the optical card is accelerated or decelerated. SOLUTION: When a relative travel speed of an optical card 500 reaches a predetermined speed, an MPU 512 applies a constant speed pulse to an x- directional driving motor 516. As a result, an optical head 514 records, reproduces information when the optical card becomes a constant speed. When a beam spot reaches a predetermined position of the optical card, a deceleration pulse is applied to the x-directional driving motor. A travel direction of the optical card is switched when the relative travel speed of the optical card is 0, and then an acceleration pulse is applied to accelerate the optical card to the predetermined speed. When the optical card shows the constant speed with the application of the constant speed pulse, an AF/AT control circuit 518 opens a control loop and a track jump circuit 517 applies a track jump pulse to an actuator.
