    • PURPOSE:To accomplish production of subject materials in high efficiency using microorganisms in such a way that a fermented liquid in the foregoing stage, removed from a specific sprinkling filter bed-type bioreactor as fermentation tank is converted into a product in a latter stage fermentation tank, and the resulting fermented liquid is then separated. CONSTITUTION:The substrate concentration in a fermentation tank 1 is set at fairly higher level to ensure the substrate concentration not to be a rate- determining step. The liquid in the tank 1 is a mixed one comprising the substrate, the product and the microorganism isolated from a carrier and a part of the fermented liquid in the foregoing stage is circulated again to the tank 1 to prevent the reduction of the microorganismic concentration in the tank. The former stage-fermented liquid removed from the tank 1 is then transferred via a feed pipe 16 to a latter fermentation tank 11. The latter stage-fermented liquid removed from the tank 11 is separated by using a membrane separator 19 into a clear solution with low microorganismic concentration and high product concentration and the remaining concentrate with high microorganismic concentration.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a cake, of low water content by providing a groove that inclines to the direction opposite to the direction of inclination of screw blade in the inner face near the discharge port of casing. CONSTITUTION:A screw 5 that sends out continuously the object to be treated, for instance slurry of sewage sludge etc., from a supply port at an end of casing to a discharge port 4 at another end is installed to allow free rotation in a horizontal cylindrical casing having many filtrate discharge ports in the drum. Further, a groove 7 that inclines to opposite direction to the direction of inclination of blades 12a, b of the screw 5 is provided on inner face near the dischrge port 4 of the casing 1. Consequently, cakes are moved forcibly to the discharge port 4 by resultant force generated by inclination of the groove 7 and that of blades 12b, and even if high pressure is generated near the discharge port 4, blocking and induced rotation phenomena do not take place. Accordingly, water content of the cake can be reduced and the quantity of discharge can be increased.

    • PURPOSE:To accomplish production of the subject material in high efficiency using microorganisms in such a way that a liquid removed from a fermentation tank with specified setup is separated through a membrane separator and a clear solution of high product concentration is removed externally, the rest being returned to the fermentation tank. CONSTITUTION:When a fermentation tank 1 is charged with a substrate such as an aqueous solution containing ca.20wt.% of glucose, ethanol etc., is produced by the action of microorganisms immobilized on a relevant carrier in the tank 1. A fermentation liquid comprising the resultant useful materials and the substrate is allowed to flow down to the bottom of the tank 1, put to suction through a pump 5, and then sprayed again via a nozzle 3 installed on the upper part of a packed tank 2 into the fermentation tank 1. Thus, the concentration of the product is gradually increased during repeating such circulation, and a part thereof is removed from an outlet for the fermentation liquid. With the present method, the fermentation liquid is allowed to flow down uniformly, therefore causing no cloggings.

    • PURPOSE:To always carry out aeration with an appropriate amt. of air by calculating the amt. of air necessary for the treatment of raw water based on the detection signals of the DO concn. in an aeration tank, etc., supplying a calculated amt. of air to an air diffuser in the aeration tank through large- capacity and small-capacity blowers, and controlling each blower so that the air supply energy for the blowers is minimized. CONSTITUTION:The necessary amt. of air is calculated by an air amt. arithmetic controller 11 based on the detection signals of the water amt., BOD concn., DO concn., etc., in the aeration tank 1. When the necessary amt. of air is supplied to the air diffusers 2 provided in the tank 1 from the large-capacity blower 9 and small-capacity blower 10 connected to the respective air diffusers, the air supply amts. of the large-capacity blower 9 and small-capacity blower 10 are calculated by the controller 11 so that the air supply energy for the blowers 9 and 10 is minimized, and the blowers 9 and 10 are driven and controlled based on the calculated values. As a result, the variations in the necessary air amt. with the variations in the amt. of water to be treated can be accurately coped with, and compressed air can be diffused in an appropriate amt.
