SOLUTION: The receiver of a selective radio call system has a telephone number retrieval section 107 which retrieves a preregistered telephone number based on the content of a message upon receiving the message and transmits an answer message to the subscriber of the retrieved number through radio telephone. The receiver is provided with an answer flag confirming section which confirms the necessity of an answer message from an answer flag, a received message segmenting section which returns part of a received message to the call subscriber by segmenting the part of the message, and a transmitting message preparing section which prepares its own message. Therefore, the transmission efficiency and operability of the radio call system can be improved, because the sender of a message can distinguish the answer to the message and can only transmit an answer message to a partner who requires the answer message.

SOLUTION: A received radio selective calling signal is demodulated by a radio section 2 and given to a decoder 3. The decoder 3 compares a call number (ID) from a radio section 1 with its own call number received from a ROM 5 via a memory control section 4. When they are coincident, a message signal in succession to the ID is fed to the control section 4 from the decoder 3. The control section 4 stores the message signal to a RAM 6 and a display section 9 displaces the message signal. When the user desires security on this message from other party, a cipher information input section inputs cipher, the message stored in the RAM 6 is transferred to a ciphering message memory 7 together with the cipher.
