SOLUTION: A carrier device is provided with a carrier 35 moved on a rail 12, a hoist gear 36 loaded on the carrier 35 and having a pair of sliding cables 37 and 38, and a carrier article supporting frame 39 suspended by the sliding cables 37 and 38 from the carrier 35. The carried article supporting frame 39 is provided with a supporting member 81 for supporting an article A to be carried, a front guard member 82 formed to rise from the front end of the supporting member 81 to the front of the carried article A to be supported by the supporting member 81, and a rear guard member 83 formed to rise from the rear end of the supporting member 81 to the rear side of the carried article A to be supported by the supporting member 81.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a carrier through simple control.
      SOLUTION: A conveyor includes a carrier 12 which runs along a predetermined path while carrying the subject W to be conveyed; a plurality of drive wheels 41 positioned with predetermined pitches along the path of travel of the carrier for frictionally engaging an engaged part C of the carrier 12 to propel the carrier 12; a sensor LS provided on each drive wheel 41 for outputting an ON signal when the engaged part C of the carrier 12 is engaged with the drive wheel 41 and for outputting an OFF signal when the engaged part C of the carrier 12 is disengaged from the drive wheel 41; and a control means which outputs a drive signal for the drive wheel 41 when the sensor LS outputs the ON signal and which outputs a drive stop signal for the drive wheel 41 when the sensor LS outputs the OFF signal. The overall length L of the engaged part C of the carrier 12 is equal to the pitch P with which the drive wheels 41 are arranged.
