    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric resonator component which dispenses with an additional member such as coating or damping member to enable the production process thereof to be simplified and the cost thereof to be reduced and suppresses the influence of a fundamental wave of thickness longitudinal vibration when utilizing a third-order harmonic wave of thickness longitudinal vibration.
      SOLUTION: The piezoelectric resonator component 1 includes: an energy-trapped piezoelectric resonator 2 including a piezoelectric substrate 3 polarized in a direction of thickness and first and second vibrating electrodes 4, 5 partially formed on first and second major surfaces of the piezoelectric substrate 3 and utilizing a third-order harmonic wave of thickness longitudinal vibration; and first and second casing substrates 8, 10 respectively laminated on the piezoelectric resonator 2 so that cavities H are arranged so as not to interfere with vibration of a vibration section of he piezoelectric resonator 2. The first and second vibrating electrodes 4, 5 are dimensioned so that the difference between the peak values of the phases of S0 and S1 modes of the fundamental wave of the thickness longitudinal vibration falls within the range of ±5 degrees.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy trap type piezoelectric resonator component which utilizes a third overtone of a thickness longitudinal vibration, effectively controls the fundamental wave of the thickness longitudinal vibration as a spurious wave, is relatively free from area restraints of the electrode and dimensional constraints and meets miniaturization.
      SOLUTION: In the piezoelectric resonator utilizing a third overtone of a thickness longitudinal vibration mode, first and second vibrating electrodes 4 having an elliptical shape are arranged on portions of first and second major surfaces 3a, 3b of a piezoelectric substrate 3 having a rectangular shape, and the first vibrating electrode 4 and the second vibrating electrode face each other on front and rear sides with the piezoelectric substrate 3 interposed therebetween. In an energy trap type piezoelectric resonator component 1, a flattening ratio a/b of a minor axis diameter (b) to a major axis diameter (a) of the elliptical shape of the vibrating electrode 4 is within a range of 1.2 to 1.45.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy confinement type thickness longitudinal piezoelectric resonator that utilizes harmonics of a thickness longitudinal vibration mode, can promote downsizing, and has an excellent resonance characteristics hardly susceptible to the effect by a mechanical support.
      SOLUTION: The energy confinement type thickness longitudinal piezoelectric resonator 1 is provided with: a strip shaped rectangular piezoelectric plate 2; first and second stimulating electrodes 3, 4 that are formed to both sides of the piezoelectric plate 2 and opposed to each other with the piezoelectric plate 2 inbetween; and an internal electrode placed in the piezoelectric plate and opposed to the first and second stimulating electrodes 3, 4. A size ratio L/d, where L is the length of the piezoelectric plate 2 in the length direction and d is the thickness t of the piezoelectric plate 2 divided by the order n of harmonics, is selected to be 16±0.5, 21±0.5, 23±0.5, 25±0.5, or 27±0.5.
