    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine which is advantageous to secure an execution frequency of activating treatment or regenerating treatment of an exhaust purification means without impairing drivability. SOLUTION: During modulation of an air fuel ratio by an air fuel ratio modulation means 38, when a determining means 48 determines that an operating condition of an engine 10 is not in an operation region of a feedback control means 46, an actuation means 50 sets a variation inhibition target value which is a target value for inhibiting variation of the engine 10 and actuates a feedback control means 46 based on the variation inhibition target value. The actuation means 50 sets a target engine speed as the variation inhibition target value and actuates the feedback control means 46 so that a deviation between the target engine speed and an actual engine speed becomes smaller based on the variation inhibition target value.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an engine improving exhaust emission control efficiency in a state where an exhaust emission control catalyst is not activated.
      SOLUTION: This device determines if estimated air-fuel ratio is changed over to a lean side from a rich side and if full explosion occurs in each cylinder. If the estimated air-fuel ratio has been changed over to the lean side from the rich side and full explosion occurs in all cylinders, a fuel injection valve is controlled and fuel injection quantity is adjusted to keep an average value of the estimated air fuel ratio at lean side of theoretical air-fuel ratio and to make the estimated air-fuel ratio richer than predetermined target A/F by prescribed time and prescribed change quantity.
