    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold clamping device which can minimize mechanical damage generated in the component of the mold clamping device even when non-uniform mold clamping force is applied thereto.
      SOLUTION: The mold clamping device 10 includes: a base frame 11; a fixed die plate 12; a movable die plate 13; a movable die plate moving means which moves the movable die plate 13 forward/backward in relation to the fixed die plate 12; a hydraulic pressure mold clamping cylinder 18 formed in the fixed die plate 12; and a plurality of tie bars 17 in which a ram 16 formed at each one end is arranged in the hydraulic pressure mold clamping cylinder 18, and the other end is fixed to the movable die plate 13. By adjusting the supply of a hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic pressure mold clamping cylinder 18, a fixed mold 14 and a movable mold 15 are clamped through the tie bars 17. In the process of a mold clamping operation, the device detects stress generated in a prescribed part of the mold clamping device 10, and, when the detected stress exceeds a prescribed standard stress, stops the mold clamping operation.

A source 10 of supply of gas for foaming is arranaged outside the cylinder 4. The source 10 is connected to a gas injection port 26, which is formed in a wall part of the cylinder 4, via a valve 11. An auxiliary gas injection port 27 is formed in the cylinder 4 in such a manner as to be located on the downstream side of the port 26. The port 27 enables the gas to be injected into the resin into which the gas is not injected from the port 26.
