    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor which includes a fluid dynamic pressure bearing unit having a fixed shaft fitted to both end portions of the bearing unit and is composed of a few components that can be manufactured relatively simply. SOLUTION: The spindle motor is equipped with the fluid dynamic pressure bearing unit including a rotor component (14) encircling the fixed shaft (12). The shaft (12) is coupled to axially directed bearing components (16 ; 18) at both end portions of the shaft (12). These bearing components (16 ; 18) are so molded as to form a capillary seal gap (32 ; 34) for sealing the fluid dynamic pressure bearing unit whose both sides are open and, in optional selection, to form a dynamic pumping seal (36). The bearing components (16 ; 18) include a circulating passage (28) which connects separated areas of the bearing unit to each other and is filled with a bearing fluid, and electromagnetic drive units (42, 44) which drive the rotor component (14).
