SOLUTION: The garbage disposal apparatus is composed of a garbage vessel 17, a heating means 19 for heating the garbage charged to the garbage vessel 17, a deodorizer 22 for deodorizing exhaust gas from the garbage vessel 17, a deodorizer heating means 23 for heating the deodorizer 22 to a prescribed temperature, and a cover opening detection part 24 for detecting the fact that the cover is opened. The heating and drying of garbage are started when the deodorizer 22 reaches the prescribed temperature by the deodorizer heating means 23, and the temperature of the deodorizer 22 is held as prescribed by using the deodorizer heating means 23 until the fact that the cover is opened is detected by the cover opening detection part 24. Thus, the garbage disposal apparatus which does not emit the malodor until the cover is opened for discharging the remains of garbage can be provided.
