    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating an isocyanate residue, whereby the isocyanate residue obtained from a decomposition liquid of carbamate can be decomposed into an amine. SOLUTION: The method for treating the isocyanate residue comprises: separating isocyanate and alcohol from the decomposition liquid obtained through a thermal decomposition reaction of the carbamate; and contacting the resulting isocyanate residue to high-pressure high-temperature water in the presence of a solvent so as to decompose the same into the amine. By treating the isocyanate residue by such the method, the isocyanate residue obtained from the decomposition liquid of carbamate can be decomposed into the amine. The method for treating the isocyanate residue is capable of decomposing the isocyanate residue into the amine that serves as a raw material for producing a carbamate, thereby reducing the coast for producing an isocyanate.
