摘要： PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of a side trimmer knife by filling the lightweight material in depressed part provided on one side or on both sides of a side trimmer knife. CONSTITUTION:A hole 2 and a key groove 3 to fit a shaft are provided at the center of a body of a side trimmer knife 1, and grooves 5 are provided as depressed part on the side of the body. The grooves 5 are circumferentially provided on both sides of the side trimmer knife body, and may be arranged on either side or circumferentially arranged at several parts. The arrangement is determined according to balance between the degree of the weight reduction of the side trimmer knife and the securement of the strength. The lightweight material 4 such as plastics is filled in the grooves 5 which are the depressed parts. Because the plastics is far lighter than the steel forming the side trimmer knife body, the filled plastics 4 does not impede the weight reduction largely by the provision of the grooves.

Thus, various measures to reduce the weight for most of the difference between the outer and the inner diameters of the side trimmer knife can be taken, and the weight reduction is more effective. When the key groove 3 and the key whose sectional shape of the side trimmer knife part is approximately triangular, the effective length to prevent the shearing force to connect the side trimmer knife body 1 to a shaft is increased, and film connection of the side trimmer knife body to the shaft is sufficiently maintained.
