摘要： PURPOSE:The epimerization of aldoses is effected by heating an aqueous aldose in the presence of a molybdenic acid catalyst supported on anion exchange fibers, thus producing epimerized isomers with industrial advantage because the catalyst- removing process becomes unncessary and the catalyst activity is maintained. CONSTITUTION:An aldose as D-xylose is heated at a temperature higher than 70 deg.C in the presence of a catalyst of (C) molybdenic acid supported on (B) anion exchange fibers, which are prepared by impregnating polyethylene fibers with vinylbenzyl chloride and divinylbenzene, polymerizing them and introducing tertiary amino groups to give the objective epimerized isomer. For example, D-xylose is continuously made to react, thus giving D-lyxose. The concentration of the aldose used is 40-80% and the anion exchange fibers preferably have less than 200 micron diameter and 3-5000 aspect ratio.

摘要： PURPOSE:To produce a sorbitan stable against heat and/or alkali and substantially not colored even when stored for a long period by adding an alkali to a sorbitan aqueous solution, heating the mixture and subsequently purifying the treated solution. CONSTITUTION:A sorbitan aqueous solution is adjusted to a pH of 8-14 with an alkali (e.g. NaOH), heated at 90-220 deg.C, preferably 110-140 deg.C for 5min to 2hr, and subsequently subjected to a deionization operation using a conventional ion exchange resin, etc., and to a purification operation such as discoloration or deodorization using active carbon to provide the objective sorbitan. The compound is useful as a raw material for producing surfactants, etc., reduced in their colors. The subject sorbitan has a purity of >=60% in the solid, and has a coloration degree as APHA of 0-40 under conditions comprising adding 5g of a 10% KOH aqueous solution to 60g of a 50% aqueous solution specimen and subsequently heating the mixture on boiling water of >=95 deg.C for 30min, and has also a coloration degree as APHA of 0-20 when stored at 0-40 deg.C at a pH of 2-10 for 30 days.

Thus, the aimed hydrogenated liver oil is obtained. A cosmetic or medicine containing the hydrogenated liver oil is obtained. EFFECT:The hydrogenated liver oil having no unsaturated bond is stable to heat or oxygen without the change in color nor smell. The raw material is inexpensive.
