    • PURPOSE:To shorten a time for a kneading stage and to enhance productivity by kneading and treating coke powder for a raw material and a pitch binder while adding the specified organic high polymer substance, and burning the kneaded material after molding it by a rubber press. CONSTITUTION:Coke powder for a raw material and a pitch binder are kneaded and treated to regulate the volatile matter. The kneaded material is pulverized to obtain secondary particles. After these secondary particles are molded by a rubber press, the molded body is burned. In this method, the aimed isotropic carbonaceous material is obtained by adding the organic high polymer substance which has properties so that it is decomposed at the kneading temp. at a time for kneading treatment and hydrochloric acid is removed. As the most effective conditions for the aim, polyvinyl chloride or polyvinylidene chloride is used for the organic high polymer substance and added in a range within 0.3-2.0wt.% for coke of the raw material. When the loadings in this case are less than 0.3wt.%, the shortening effect of the kneading time is not obtained. Further when the loadings exceed 2.0wt.%, the characteristics such as strength and elasticity of the obtained isotropic carbo-naceous material are deteriorated.

    • PURPOSE:To always produce a high-quality isotropic carbonaceous material by charging a crude carbon molded body obtained by a cold hydrostatic press to a sagger while the body is embedded in a carbonaceous packing, placing a tabular lid on the upper surface, and setting the sagger in a baking furnace section. CONSTITUTION:The crude carbon molded body 4 obtained by the cold hydrostatic press (hereinafter referred to as CIP) is charged in the sagger 6 while the body is embedded in a carbonaceous packing 5 (e.g., granular particles of coke and graphite). The tabular lid 7 (e.g., a carbonaceous sheet and an iron sheet) is placed on the upper surface, then the sagger is set in the baking furnace section 1, and the periphery is covered with the packing material 8 (e.g., quartz sand and coke powder). The sagger is a tea caddy-shaped vessel made of iron and a drop lid consisting of an iron sheet or a carbonaceous sheet and having an area smaller than that of the upper surface of the sagger is preferably used as the tabular lid. By such a baking furnace charging method, the deterioration of the crude carbon molded body obtained by the CIP due to the oxidation can be effectively prevented.
