    • PURPOSE:To descale thoroughly a hot rolled steel strip by pickling for an extremely short time in the stage of descaling the same by a physical method and pickling, by heating the steel strip up to the reaction temp. for pickling prior to the pickling. CONSTITUTION:A hot rolled steel strip 1 which is stuck with scale on the surfaces is conducted into a physical descaler 4, where about 80% of the scale deposited thereon is mechanically removed by a method such as blasting of abrasive materials. The steel strip is then introduced into a heater 5 where hot water is sprayed thereto to clean the surfaces and the strip is heated to the reaction temp. for pickling, i.e., 70-90 deg.C. The heated strip 1 is then put into a pickling tank 6, and is subjected to pickling with the hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid therein whereby about 20% the remaining scale is thoroughly dissolved away in a short time. The acid stuck thereon is washed in a washing tank 7; thereafter, the washed strip is dried in a dryer 8.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce energy consumption per unit area in removing scale attached to the surface of milled hoop by blasting abrasives having grains of a specific diameter against the hoop to remove a portion of scale and then utilizing a mechanical or fluid force to remove residual scale. CONSTITUTION:Hot milled hoop 1 is sent to a grinding-off chamber 3a provided between rolls 4 and 5, and scales attached to both surfaces of the hoop 1 are simultaneouly removed by abrasives blasted through a blast devices 2a, 2b within about 1,100mm. of blast distance and having grain diameter less than about 0.35mm.. Next, the hoop 1 is sent to the next grinding-off chamber 3b between rolls 6 and 7 to remove again the scale by blast devices 2c, 2d. Thereafter, the hoop 1 is sent to a grinding-off chamber 9 between rolls 8 and 14 to perform descaling with brushes 10, 12 of rotary tools for complete removal of the scale.

    • PURPOSE: To descale a hot rolled steel strip which is stuck with scale on the surfaces at a low cost without increasing the surface roughness, by blasting fine abrasive materials to said steel plate under specific blasting conditions.
      CONSTITUTION: A steel strip 1 having scale layers on the surfaces after hot rolling is passed in shot-blasting chambers 7, 8 while the strip is continuously moved vertically twice with plural deflector rolls 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Abrasive materials of about ≤0.3mm grain size are blasted to the surfaces of the strip 1 from within about 1,000mm blasting distance at ≥30m/sec blasting rate by plural blasting devices 9a, 9b, 10a, 10b. The surfaces are descaled at a low cost while the surface roughness of about the surface by pickling is assured.

    • PURPOSE:To easily form a crown of high precision on the surface of a rolling roll, by giving a bending deformation in the radial direction to the outer peripheral surface of the roll by pressing it, and simultaneously, grinding the outer peripheral surface parallelly to the rotational axis of the roll. CONSTITUTION:A pair of pressing rolls 13 which are in contact with the outer peripheral surface 12 of a work roll 11 are pressed against the roll 11, by a pressing cylinder 15 through a piston rod 14 and a holder 16, to give a bending deformation to the surface 12 in the radial direction, and further, the rolls 13 are moved parallelly to the rotational axis 19 to deform the surface 12 so as to especially recess the central part of it. At the same time, the surface 12 is ground parallelly to the rotational axis 19 by a grinding device 18 having a grinding belt 17. When the pressing by the rolls 13 is released after the grinding, a crown of the roll 11 is obtained. At this time, the quantity of the crown is precisely controlled by combining a deformed quantity detecting device 20 and a controlling device 21 for controlling the pressing quantity.

    • PURPOSE: To improve the performance of the descaling process, by arranging a couple of backup rolls respectively on the upstream side and on the downstream side of a work roll driving a steel sheet, and by narrowing the distance between said two backup rolls in order to force the surface of the steel sheet to mutually rub up.
      CONSTITUTION: A steel sheet 1 just running out of a hot rolling line is successively passed around pinch rolls 2, a backup roll 6, a work roll 3, a backup roll 7, and further a backup roll 8, a work roll 4, a backup roll 9, and pinch rolls 5. The backup rolls 7, 8 are forced by each of pushers 10, 11 to move toward counter backup rolls 6, 9 keeping mutual parallel state. For example, if the backup roll 6 bends the steel sheet 1, the steel sheet 1 causes a surface strain which then generates some cracks in the scales 1-a, 1-b; the cracks greatly increase by the bending action of the work roll 3; when the steel sheet 1 passes over the backup roll 7, the backup roll 7 is pushed by the pusher 10 toward the backup roll 6 so as to force the steel sheet surface to mutually rub up; hereby, the scales 1-a, 1-b are peeled off.
