    • PURPOSE:To provide the titled quick cooler which cools quickly and continuously a rolling material with a high heat transfer rate by making movable upward and downward an upper header part and permitting the change over to an optimum cooling method, i.e., slit laminar method of water jet method. CONSTITUTION:A driving motor 7 is started to move upward the upper header part 6 slightly before the front end of the rolling material starts passing through the cooler. The position is controlled to set exactly the upper header part to the standby position for the upward movement by the detection signal of a PLG15 disposed at the end of a motor shaft in this stage. The motor 7 is run backward and the header part 6 is moved downward by the above- mentioned mechanism so as to be set exactly at the position for forming cooling water when a coiler begins to coil the front end of the rolling material 1 upon completion of the passage of the front end of the rolling material. The header part 6 is again moved upward and is set in the standby position in the stage of passing through of the rear end of the rolling material. The repetition of a series of upward and downward movement cycles of the header part 6 is thus made possible by the above-mentioned lifting mechanism. A cooling method using high-velocity water jet flow is adopted for cooling of the rolling material 1 in the position for forming the cooling water and a cooling method using a slit laminar flow from a slit nozzle is adopted in the standby position for the upward movement.

    • PURPOSE: To perform the high speed continuous coiling of a rolling stock by providing an upper roll to offset against a lower roll and by equipping the main pinch roll movable vertically.
      CONSTITUTION: The pinch rolls 9, 10 of the downstream side in the progressing direction of a rolling stock, namely the side approaching deflectors 15, 16 are main pinch rolls and the pinch rolls 17, 18 of the upstream side are sub-pinch rolls. The upper roll of the main pinch rolls 9, 10 is movable vertically by the hydraulic cylinders 29, 30 to be controlled via the electricity-hydraulic servo mechanism. The main pinch rolls 9, 10 perform the nose bend of the tip at the advancing time of the rolling stock with the state of the upper roll being descended and the upper roll is offset in the progressing direction against the lower roll so as to make the rolling stock progress downward.

    • PURPOSE:To move stably a slide base in the stage of roll changing, etc. by bringing the slide plate which moves only in the vertical direction on the side face of the stationary base of a cross rolling mill into contact with the lower inside surface of the slide base so as to be positioned at the line center of the rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:A bottom beam 16b intervened with a slide base 14 below the lower backup roll 3b of backup rolls 3a, 3b circumscribing work rolls 2a, 2b and a pair of upper and lower jacks 13a, 13b for cross head in contact with both side walls of backup roll chocks 7a, 7b are installed in a housing 8. A guide plate 28 movable only in the vertical direction on the side face of a statonary base 22 in the lower part of the housing 8 is freely attachably and detachably brought into contact with both inside surfaces in the lower part of the base 14 so as to be positioned at the center of the rolling mill. The horizontal movement of the base 14 in the stage of roll changing and the horizontal turning motion in the stage of roll cross operation are smoothly accomplished and the online polishing of the rolls is made possible.
