    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a large accelerating force and a large magnetic flux density and thereby to improve an additional acceleration performance of a flying body. CONSTITUTION:When a flying body 7 given initial-stage acceleration by a gas gun comes in between augment rails (inside) 6 and 61 through an introducing tube, a capacitor l for initial plasma ignition is turned ON and a voltage is applied between the augment rails. By turning arm accelerating gas in the rear of the flying body 7 into plasma by a laser, thereafter, a current is made to flow through one inside augment rail 6 a plasma armature 8 the other inside augment rail 61 and the flying body 7 is accelerated additionally by a Lorentz force at that time. Since the plasma is kept, in this condition, in a state of a higher plasma density than the plasma obtained by using the whole of the augment rails, switchover is made from the capacitor 1 for initial plasma ignition to a power source 3 in this state. Thereby it is made possible to make the maximum current flow before the plasma spreads (in other words, while the plasma is in a state of not being expanded, but being collected), a large accelerating force and a large magnetic flux density are obtained and thus an additional acceleration performance of the flying body 7 is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent fluid leaks by detecting fluid that leaks from the high pressure side conduit to the low pressure side conduit through valve seat at the time of the valve actuation, and if the fluid leakage exceeds the specified value, the valve is actuated to cause a bellows to expand to press the valve plate against the valve seat. CONSTITUTION:The valve apparatus can be closed airtight at the high and low pressure side conduits 1, 4 by actuating a valve plate 10 to the closed position in a valve body 2 which is disposed between the high and low pressure side conduits 1, 4, and causing a bellows 17 to expand toward the valve plate 10 to press a valve seat 11 of the bellows 17 side against the valve plate 10. In such a construction, the amount of He leakage from the high pressure side conduit 1 to the low pressure side conduit 4 through the valve seat 11 is detected at the time of the valve closure actuation by a He leak detector 26. The detected signal X is supplied to a reducing valve 22, and if the amount of He leakage exceeds the specified value, the reducing valve 22 is actuated to increase the pressure in the bellows 17. By this constitution, fluid leaks from the high pressure side conduit 1 to the low pressure side conduit 4 is prevented.
