    • PURPOSE:To obtain a cast billet having no defect by equipping with the refractory pouring plate having the flat lower part extending downwards between the upper part curved along a top roll and a pair of belts, and the pouring nozzle opening onto the curved face of the upper part thereof. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal from a tundish 6 is flowed out on to a refractory pouring plate 10 from its notch part 13 via a pouring nozzle 11 to form the continuous film flow 12 flowing to the flat part of the lower part with spreading in the width direction. The pouring plate running along a top roll 3' guides a molten metal flow by a piece of a plate, so no turbulent flow of molten metal is caused nor biting any bubble, etc., and an uniform solidified cell is formed and the casting difficult to generate a defect can be executed. Due to the pouring plate 10 being of one piece plate, the structure is easy to release the thermal stress and the thickness can be thinned, hence the gap C of both belts is reduced and a thin slab can be obtd. by continuous casting.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain a composite roll of a high quality by forming a joint surface of a material to be cast-in to an uneven shape, placing it in a cylindrical one body metallic mold, preheating it in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, and thereafter, pouring an pressing a cast-in material, cooling it with water, and widening a contact area of the material to be cast-in to join it completely.
      CONSTITUTION: Since a molten metal pressurizing system by a plunger 11 is adopted, a deposition phenomenon of a boundary part of a material to be cast-in 4 and a cast-in material is accelerated, they are joined completely, and a high quality roll can be manufactured, and also the yield of the molten metal is improved. Also, it is executed in a non-oxidizing atmosphere without using a surface treating agent for the joint surface, therefore, a care of a gas defect or an inclusion of the joint surface is dissolved. Moreover, since the joint surface of the material to be cast-in 4 is formed to an uneven shape 21, the contact area is widened, and this roll can be applied as a high load roll.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the workability of a hollow casting and to reduce the cost thereof by preheating a metallic mold core having the coefft. of thermal expansion larger than the coefft. of thermal expansion of a casting material to a prescribed temp., casting a molten metal into the mold and allowing the mold core to shrink more largely than the casting, then removing the core. CONSTITUTION:The casting mold consisting of master mold 1 and the metallic mold core 2 is provided on a mold stool 4 and the melt of a ductile cast iron is cast from a sprue 3 into the mold. SUS304 having the coefft. of thermal expansion larger than the coefft. of thermal expansion of the molten metal material is used for the core 2 and the core 2 is preheated to the prescribed temp. satisfying the equation T1alpha1>T2alpha2, where alpha1, alpha2 are respectively the coeffts. of thermal expansion of the casting and the metallic mold core, and T1, T2 are respectively the average temps. of the casting and the metallic mold core when the solidification is completed. The mold is cooled down to an ordinary temp. after casting to allow the core 2 to shrink more largely than the casting, then the core is removed. The workability of the hollow casting is thereby improved and the cost is reduced.
