摘要： PURPOSE:To replace a gas absorbed in a coating film with an air layer and to prevent the generation of bubbles by applying a primer soln. on the surface of a strip to be coated on the upstream side from a slit coater and then applying a topcoat soln. while the coating film is not dried and solidified. CONSTITUTION:A web 1 coated with a primer is wound on a backup roll 2, a coating roll 24 is pressed on the web 1 and an immersed roll 21, and the coating roll 24 and immersed roll 21 are rotated as the backup roll 2 is rotated. A primer 23 supplied to a tank 22 is deposited on the coating roll 24 from the immersed roll 21, and the primer is applied on the traveling web 1 to form a thin primer film 26. A topcoat 5 supplied to a slit coater 3 is then applied from a slit nozzle 4 on the primer film 26 which is not dried yet and solidified to form a topcoat film 6 in specified thickness.

CONSTITUTION:Plural pieces of upper nozzles 14 and lower nozzles 16, the ends on one side of which face both surfaces of the traveling steel sheet S. The ends on the other side of these upper nozzles 14 and lower nozzles 16 are communicated with resonance tubes 13. Pulsation oscillators 15 are mounted to the resonance tubes 13 and the pressure of gas is pulsated by the oscillation of the pulsation oscillators 15 to intermittently inject jets L1 from the nozzles. The jets are brought into collision against the surfaces of the steel sheet S to sufficiently thin the surface boundary areas, by which the surface treating effect is improved.

Meanwhile, the nozzle is preferably set at the center of the electrode plate in its longitudinal direction to maximize an effect in straightening the warpage of the strip 5. The set position of the nozzle is experimentally specified to meet the requirements, and the ratio of the distance (m) between the electrode plate inlet and the nozzle to the distance (n) between the nozzle and the electrode plate outlet is controlled to (1:4) to (1:2).

By this constitution, the distance between the electrode plates is reduced and the power consumption is saved while securing the thickness of the mask 11 sufficient in strength.

The coil car 26 and clamp car 53 are moved to a rolling line to charge the coil 14 to a payoff reel 12. The holding of the strip plate 17 by the upper and lower clamps 57, 58 is then released to retreat the clamp car 53 and the supply of the coil 14 is completed.
