The sides of the phase detector 10, connecting the respective phases of the power supply and neutral points, are formed from a series circuit comprising a resistor and a photocoupler and a parallel circuit comprising a capacitor, respectively, and produces output to the switching element driving device based on the output of the photocouplers.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the affection of a power supply frequency by a method wherein the rotation of a motor for driving a compressor is controlled by an inverter so that an air conditioning capacity is developed as same as the case of another specified power supply frequency, in a case where a detected power supply frequency is a specified frequency. SOLUTION: When the frequency of a power supply 10 is detected by a power supply frequency detecting unit 33 so that it is 50 Hz, a correcting value αis added to a frequency A1 , corresponding to a requested frequency A0 , by an inverter frequency determining unit 9. As a result, the inverter frequency determining unit 9 controls an inverter 5 so as to supply the power of corrected frequency A1 ' to a compressor motor 6. Accordingly, the compressor motor 6 is driven by the power of corrected frequency A1 ' whereby the reduction of number of rotation of a compressor motor 32 is complemented and an air conditioning capacity, same as in the case of 60 Hz of power supply frequency, is developed when the number of rotation of fan motors 4, 71 is reduced and the compressor motor 32 is driven.
