摘要： PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion fatigue strength of a propeller made of copper alloy casting in the sea water, to reduce the thickness of the propeller and to improve the propulsion efficiency by subjecting only the surface layer part in the prescribed range from the central part of the marine propeller to heating and melting and thereafter to a heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:Only the surface layer part of the propeller in the range of 0.2-0.6R radius ratio (R denotes the radius of a propeller) from the central part of a boss of the propeller made of copper alloy castings such as NiAl bronze is subjected to heating and melting in the use of the heat source such as laser beams and is immediately quenched. After that, said part is subjected to a heat treatment for 0.5-1.5hr in the temp. range ot 450-500 deg.C. By this method, the corrosion fatigue strength of the propeller material in the sea water can be improved as about 2 times.
