    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for a fuel cell that can suppress corrosion of a metal member as a substrate and suppress an increase in contact resistance between itself and electrodes to thereby prevent a reduction in cell performance even if used in the fuel cell for a long time. SOLUTION: In the metal separator for a fuel cell, a thin film is formed on the whole or part of a surface of the metal member or a portion that is in contact with the electrodes at the periphery thereof. The thin film contains at least one selected from the group consisting of titanium carbide TiC, silicon carbide SiC, chromium carbide Cr 3 C 2 , etc. A method of manufacturing the metal separator for a fuel cell comprises the step of forming the thin film by spraying fine powder together with a carrier gas onto the whole or part of the surface of the metal member or the portion that is in contact with the electrodes at the periphery thereof from a tip of a micro-hole nozzle, wherein the temperature of the metal member during the film formation ranges from room temperature to 200 °C.
