    • PURPOSE:To detect the leakage from joint parts surely and easily by providing the joint parts to adjacent tank bottoms by leaving spacings, joining straps respectively to the top and bottom surfaces of the joint parts and forcing gaseous NH3 into the spaces of the joint parts. CONSTITUTION:With a cylindrical low temp. double shell type ground tank or the like, adjacent bottom plates 11 are provided opposite to each other by leaving a spacing and joint parts are provided. Straps 12, 12' are welded respectively to the top and bottom surfaces of the respective joint parts and powder 14 that is discolored by NH3 is coated on weld zones. Spaces 13 are formed in the joint parts by this. Since all the joint parts are communicated, the joint parts each provided with a force feed port and discharge port 15 for gaseous NH3 are provided in two places and NH3 is forcibly fed therein, by which leaking parts such as pinholes can be surely detected because the powder 14 discolors if there are such liaking parts in the weld zones. In this way, leakage is tested easily without the need for difficult work of moving the entire part of the tank tottom plates vertically or the like as in the prior art.

    • PURPOSE:To enable the curtailment of the amount of industrial waste generated by circulating a detection gas in stead of ceaseless feeding of the detection gas and a neutral agent to preserve the consumption of the detection gas and the neutral agent. CONSTITUTION:After the closing of opening/closing valves 24 and 25, opening/ closing valves 26 and 27 are opened and an ammonia gas and a nitrogen gas are fed into a mixing tank 16 to mix from an ammonia gas cylinder 14 and a hydrogen gas cylinder 15 and sealed into the back surface of a membrane 13 through a gas feed pipeline 17. As the gas density in a return pipeline 18 exceeds a certain value, with the closing of opening/closing valves 26 and 27, the opening/closing valves 24 and 25 are opened and a pump 23 is operated to circulate the detection gas through a bypass 22, pipelines 17 and 18 and the back surface of the membrane 13. In this manner, when a leak test is completed for a membrane tank by a detection gas, the opening/closing valve 25 is closed and the opening/closing valve 27 is opened to feed the detection gas to a neutralization tank 19, where it is neutralized and discharged into the air 21 through an exhaustion pipe 20.
