    • PURPOSE:To continuously perform both activation of the surface of a film and vapor deposition by providing a corona discharging mechanism in the vicinity of the inlet side of a vacuum deposition chamber in a differential pressure chamber or in the vicinity of the inlet side of the differential pressure chamber. CONSTITUTION:A film 23 for vapor deposition is introduced into a first differential pressure chamber 13 of the differential pressure chambers 9-13 for vacuum wherein the pressure is stepwise lowered. Corona discharge is continuously performed on the objective face for vapor deposition of the film 23 by corona discharge 32 generated by the corona discharge generating mechanisms 29-31 provided in the differential pressure chamber 13. Polarity is imparted on the objective face for vapor deposition to activate this objective face. In this state, the film 23 is passed through the differential pressure chambers 12-9 and introduced into a vacuum deposition chamber 6 and metallic vapor evaporated from a crucible 7 for evaporation is deposited. Thereby adhesive properties of the vapor-deposited film is enhanced. Further when a corona discharge treatment chamber 33 is provided to the atmosphere side of the outside of the differential pressure chamber, consumption of gaseous nitrogen in the treatment chamber 33 can be reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent printing faults such as tinting on printing paper and emulsification or lowering in printing quality, such as ununiformity in density, on a printed matter from occurring, by providing a high-voltage electrode for forming a DC field between the electrode and a roller to aggregate droplets of dampening water present in an ink layer through electrostatic induction and to drain the aggregated droplets off the ink layer. CONSTITUTION:High voltage electrodes 14a consisting of piano wires stretched in parallel are arranged along a roller 6 at positions spaced from the roller 6 by a predetermined distance. A high voltage is applied from a DC high-voltage power supply 13 to the electrodes 14a to form a high DC field between the electrodes 14a and the roller 6, whereby a high DC field is formed also at an ink layer (which is an insulating material) adhered to the surface of the roller 6. The sweats exuding to the surface of the ink layer are drained off from the ink layer by electrostatic induction under the high DC field, are led downward, and are collected in a water pan 15. Droplets of dampening water present in the ink layer are drained off from the ink layer while being aggregated, are led downward, and are collected in the water pan 15.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an ozonizer providing uniform and stable glow discharge by removal of sputters generated by electric discharge and uniforming of electron density, by arranging plural pairs of anodes and cathodes in series along the flow of an O2-containing gas and setting filters between the pairs of the electrodes adjoining each other. CONSTITUTION:An O2-containing raw material gas 1 is introduced into the first unit B by a straightening vane 2. During the operation, dust, especially sputters, etc., in the gas, occurring in continuous passing of the gas through a pair of a cathode and an anode 5 and 6 are removed by a filter 3 set at an inlet of each unit. In the operation, at the pair of the cathode 5 and the anode 6, preliminary discharge is generated by an auxiliary electrode 7 and then pulse glow discharge is generated between the cathode 5 and the anode 6 opposingly set. By the discharge energy generated in the operation, O2 is converted into O3. By connecting each unit 8 in series as mentioned above, an O3 gas in a gradually high concentration can be continuously obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To accurately detect interface by providing a linear array type transmitter receiver on an external wall nearby the interface between a light and a heavy liquid phases and scanning respective arrays and detecting a point where a reflected wave between the wall and liquid phases varies in signal level discontinuously as an interface position. CONSTITUTION:The linear array type transmitter receiver 14 equipped with many arrays is provided nearby the interface 11 between the light liquid phase and heavy liquid phase and the respective arrays are switched with the scanning signal 18A of a scanning signal control circuit 18. Further, the scanning reference signal of the circuit 18 is inputted to a counter 19 and an echo when the respective arrays are scanned is sent out to a CPU 22 through an input/output port 21. Then a difference in the attenuation of an ultrasonic wave sent by the transmitter receiver 14 with the difference in acoustic impedance among the wall, light liquid phase, and heavy liquid phase is utilized to count the number of arrays in small in echo height by a counter 19, thereby sending the analog output of the counted value. Consequently, the interface is accurately detected.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the stable thickness of a varnish film by automatic control of the rotation number of a feed roller and the ratio of varnish to water, by a method wherein the thickness of varnish film and the thickness of a water film are detected with infrared rays and the supply amounts of varnish and water are controlled by using the detected values thereof in the form of film thickness control signals. CONSTITUTION:The infrared rays from an infrared emitter 10 are projected onto the varnish and water 14 on a roller 17 and its reflection is converted to an electric signal with a photoelectric element 15 to be conducted to an A/D converter 19. Further, the thickness of varnish film and the thickness of water film are calculated with a calculator 20 as well as respective rotation signals of a roller 17 and an interference filter 12. As for control of the varnish film, the amount of varnish is fed by driving the root roller in the varnish pan and as for control of the concentration of varnish, the amount of water is fed by driving a pump. Then, the deviations from the target value of varnish film thickness and the target concentration of varnish are minimized. Thereby, the variations of the film thickness and concentration of varnish following the variations of mechanical speed, temperature, and humidity are controlled at small ones and the stable high-quality coat can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To produce iron oxide having a high grade by adding iron or iron compd. to a waste liquid of picking iron or steel, adjusting adequately the pH of the above-mentioned waste liquid and settling or filtering and separating the deposited silica compd. then roasting the waste liquid. CONSTITUTION:The waste liquid 1 of the hydrochloric acid pickling of steel products is conducted through a tank 2 to a pH adjusting tank 3. The iron or iron compd. 4 packed therein is brought into reaction with HCl in the waste liquid 1 to adjust the pH to 2-4. Metallic iron, iron scrap, iron oxide pellets, iron hydroxide, etc., are used as the above-mentioned iron or iron compd. A flocculating agent or aq. ammonia 5 is then added to the waste liquid 1 and is conducted to a settling tank 6. The colloidal silica compd. such as SiO2 deposited therein is settled and separated as sludge 7. The waste liquid 1 is thereafter passed through a filter 8, by which fine SiO2, etc., are removed. The filtrate is supplied to a spray roasting furnace 9 where the filtrate is roasted by hot air 10 of about 800 deg.C and is thermally decomposed, by which the iron oxide 13 of the high grade contg. Si at a low ratio is obtd.
