摘要： PURPOSE: To secure structural safety of a suspended object at earthquake time with a simple structure by inserting a piston rod type deformed rod inside a vertical cylindrical casing, and interposing precompressed singular or plural springs having small rigidity between an under surface of its small diameter top plate and a large diameter bottom plate of the casing. CONSTITUTION: This earthquake resistant vibration damping device is applied to a suspending to fix a wire rope 7 to suspend a suspending material to a roof steel frame 9, and has a large diameter vertical cylindrical casing 2 whose upper end is fixed to the roof steel frame 9 and in which a central hole is formed in the center of a large diameter bottom plate 2-2. A deformed rod whose lower end part extends downward by penetrating the central hole of the large diameter bottom plate 2-2 and which has a central rod 5 pivotally supporting a sheave 6 on the lower end, is fitted and installed inside this casing 2. Singular or plural springs 1 which are precompressed by compression force not less than a maximum load always acting on the wire rope 7 and have small rigidity and plural dampers 8, are interposed between a small diameter top plate 4 on the upper end of the deformed rod and the large diameter bottom plate 2-2.

Since the first cushioning section 2 is made of elastic material, it can be restored to its original configuration when unloading after collision. Also, the clearance between the first cushioning section 2 and the vehicle body 11 facilitates the deformation of the first cushioning section 2 so as to absorb the impact energy at the time of collision of the vehicle 10.
