    • PURPOSE:To enable character types of different sizes to be set in a circle with high accuracy by employing a circular setting control logic with a host controller which seeks a reference coordinate and a central character position in a circular setting system based on setting instructions, then controlling a movement and rotation device using a control device in accordance with a command from the host controller. CONSTITUTION:If instructions for circular setting of the type are given by a command input part 61, a host controller checks whether the typesetting should be performed in a circumferential direction (lateral set) or a radial direction(vertical set), and obtains a center radius sc1, a shift angle delta1 and a center angle from a present reference position radius Rso based on data such as Rso, new character width Qw1 and character height h1, if the typesetting is to be performed in the radial direction. Next, data is calculated within a circular setting system control logic provided in the host controller 62 to issue an activation command to a pulse motor control part 63. Subsequently, the character center position is moved from the present to a new position (Rsc1 position, thetasc1 position). At the same time, an image rotation prism 78 is caused to rotate so that an image is directed to the circle center.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to apply a top-center system to a circumferential (cross) and also to radial (vertical) photocomposition in a circular composition by determining standard coordinates and character center positions in a top-center system based on the top-center instructions from the outside and controlling a transfer means and an image-rotation means using a control means of the transfer means based on instructions from a host controller. CONSTITUTION:When a circular composition of circumferential direction is functioning wherein characters are positioned at standard coordinates Rto5, thetato7 in a top-center system, the lower left end of character is in contact with a standard line lo,1 14 and at the same time the center of the character is on a radius Rto,1. In the case of a radial composition, the center position of character 10 is determined in such a way that the lower end of the center of character 10 is determined in such a way that the lower end of the center of character is positioned at a top-center standard position, whereby the character is moved thereto as shown by the arrow A. Further, after the character has been moved, rotation of image is controlled by meann of a prism 78 for rotating image so that the image is turned in a radial direction with respect to the cetner position 10. The arithmetic processing is conducted in a circular- composition top-center system control-logic 79 provided in the host controller 62, thereby outputting motion instructions to a pulse motor control unit 63.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a phototypesetting machine capable of composing the phototypesetting of an ellipse imposition by calculating the central position of a character in the elliptical direction along the circumference of an ellipse and providing an ellipse imposition control logic, which generates a shifting command for shifting the center of an exposure pattern to the central position of the character and a rotating command for rotating the exposure pattern toward the center of the ellipse, in a host controller. CONSTITUTION:When an ellipse imposing mode is set, an ellipse/approximate circle imposition control logic 16 first reads the coordinates of the major axis of an ellipse, the minor axis thereof shown by 'b', and the center thereof shown by 'c'. Then, an elliptical angle designating a range of the approximate circle imposition, which is inputted from command inputting means 12 as a command, is read. The coordinates (Px1, Py1), (Px2, Py2) of end points P1, P2 in a preset range on the ellipse are then determined. Then, the coordinates of the center point P3 between the end points P1, P2 on the ellipse are determined, and a circle S0 passing through the points P1, P3, P2 is determined, thereby calculating the coordinates (Cx0, Cy0) of the center point C0 of the circle S0 and a radius R0 thereof. Then, this circle S0 is set as an approximate circle, and a shifting command and a rotating command are generated to be sent to a pulse motor control unit 10. As a result, a phototypesetting operator is released from a complicated operation and can compose the phototypesetting of the ellipse imposition in high accuracy.
