    • PURPOSE:To reduce red rusting and lowering of adhesiveness of a blackened film by throwing steel plate parts into a steam atmosphere under a high temperature while permuting the steam atmosphere into an inert gas atmosphere on the way to temperature rise or temperature holding. CONSTITUTION:Under a high temperature, steel plate parts are thrown into a steam atmosphere while the temperature is risen and held up to 450-600 deg.C in said atmosphere while permuting a steam atmosphere into an inert gas atmosphere on the way to its temperature rise or temperature holding for taking out steel plate parts. Thereby, the thickness of a blackened film to be formed can be easily controlled while reducing the red rusting due to the passage through an atmospheric furnace lying in the manufacturing process of a color cathode- ray tube which has been formerly the question and the lowering of adhesiveness of the blackened film thus improving deterioration of a withstand voltage property and suppressing defective mesh clogging of a shadow mask due to exfoliation of the blackened film almost to nothing.

CONSTITUTION:Regarding the drilling arrangement on the corner part linking the long side and the short side of the drilling surface of a shadow mask 5, the vertical bridge width W2, for instance, up to the second row in the direction of a vertical row from the outermost periphery of the drilling part is increased as against the vertical bridge width W1 in the direction of the horizontal axis X of the neighboring mask, while the minimum opening width D in the direction of the horizontal axis of a thin hole 9 is set up about equal to D1 D2. And the metal foil 2 is completely eliminated by an air-blow means etc. When the remains of the metal foil 2 exist, and only a color cathoderay tube 4 in which the metal toil 2 is completely eliminated is shifted to next pipe inside air exchange place via a movement of the frame 5. This enables carrying of a part of the metal foil 2 adhered to a nozzle inserted to the tube inside for the tube inside air exchange is assuredly to be prevented.
