    • PURPOSE:To prevent any fretting abrasion from occurring between the inner circumferential surface of a cam member and the outer circumferential surface of a shaft member by carburizing a camshaft blank after interposing a brazing material between both these surfaces and fitting them together. CONSTITUTION:A cam member 1, having a hollow part 1a piercing through in the axial direction is fitted in an outer circumference of a pipe-make shaft member 2 after interposing a brazing material 3 between an inner circumferential surface of the cam member 1 and an outer circumferential surface of the shaft member 2. Then, both side ends 1c in the axial direction of the camshaft 1 and the shaft member 2 are welded together and thereby a camshaft blank 5 is secured, and then this blank is carburized. With this cementation, the brazing material 3 is melted by heat at time of carburization and diffused in the axial direction, thus the inner circumferential surface of the cam member 1 and the outer circumferential surface of the shaft member 2 are joined together by means of brazing. Therefore any fretting abrasion between the inner circumferential surface of the cam member 1 and the outer circumferential surface of the shaft member 2 is preventable.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent an adverse effect due to heat contraction at time of welding from being extended up to a gear part as well as to keep off any deformation in this gear part by installing a melting preventive ring member, consisting of a heat resisting material, in the lower end position of a vertical wall of a notched step part of a transmission gear body in an extension line between a timing gear ring member and a weld zone. CONSTITUTION:A transmission gear body 1 and a timing gear member 11 both constitute a transmission gear 21 after fitting an inner circumferential part 11a of this timing gear ring member 11 in a vertical wall 4a of a notched step part 4 of the transmission gear body 1 and being welded by a high density energy beam out of the side of a cone part 2 of the body 1. In addition, it comes into contact with a ring notch part 22 and a ring recess part 23 and is provided with a melting preventive ring member 25 of circumferential two- piece constitution. Therefore any adverse effect due to heat contraction at time of welding is regulated, thus such a possible deformation that the gear part is drawn into the radial inward side is prevented.
