    • PURPOSE:To prolong the lighting time by furnishing a metal oxide layer around a metal wire, attaching emitter substance onto the layer to form an electrode for a discharge lamp, making the metal wire from an iron-chromium-aluminum series alloy wire, and including therein an element having a reductive power. CONSTITUTION:A metal wire 2 is prepared from an iron-chromium-aluminum series alloy wire, which should contain 10-30wt.% chromium, 1-10wt.% aluminum, 0.1-1.0wt.% element(s) having a reductive power, and iron as remainder. A bonding power is thereby given to the metal wire 2 and a metal oxide layer 3. Favorable examples of element having a reductive power are those belonging to the 3A, 4A, and 5A groups which are elements that likely to oxide and easy to reduce the surrounding elements, such as Zr, Ta, Y. The metal oxide layer 3 should consist of aluminum oxide which allows easy dispersion not only at the interface of an electron emitting layer 1 including emitter substance but also inside of the interface, and the bonding power of the electron emitting layer 1 with the metal wire 2 is heightened.

    • PURPOSE:To easily inspect even a complicated shape and to enable the inspection even when the surface of a body to be inspected is covered with resin by finding the interval between a high and a low part according to the deviation angles of peaks on data obtained by diffracting X rays by the body to be inspected. CONSTITUTION:Monochromatic X rays 4 are made incident slantingly on and diffracted by an installed bellows (body to be inspected) 1. The diffracted X rays 5 from the diffracting surface are at an angle 2theta to the prolongation 6 of the monochromatic X rays 4. Diffraction patterns through a counter tube 7 by varying the angle 2theta to the diffracting surface vary in intensity according to the variation in 2theta. Then there are a diffraction pattern obtained from the diffracting surface of the high part and a diffraction pattern obtained from the low part, and the peaks of the high and low parts are obtained while clearly separated. Those two peaks are obtained by the high and low parts and their interval S, is proportional to the interval between the high and low parts of the bellows 1. Consequently, the shape of the bellows can be inspected.

    • PURPOSE:To restrain the change of characteristics due to the repetition of operation by specifying the material of a shape memory alloy and realizing orthorhombic phase transformation in the device wherein a circuit breaker mechanism operates with the shape change of the shape memory alloy upon the supply of overcurrent to a heater coil. CONSTITUTION:When overcurrent flows to a heater coil 9, heat generated thereby causes a rise in the temperature of a shape memory alloy spring 8. When the temperature exceeds a phase transformation start temperature level, the shape memory alloy spring 8 suddenly tends to be deformed in such a way as to push up a plunger 7. The concerned spring 8 is in a restrained condition and, therefore, when a load exceeds a sum of loads generated from the constant load bias application spring 12 of a load lever 6, the latch mechanism of a circuit breaker connected to the load lever 6 is unlocked and a circuit is thereby broken. In this case, the shape memory alloy spring 8 is made of nickel-titanium- copper metal and the phase transformation mechanism thereof related to a shape change is so made as to give orthorhombic phase transformation.
