    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve functional convenience for use by improving reduction of noise and durability while providing a mechanism for turning a suction tool in a 90-degree arc clockwise and counter-clockwise by simple and light torsional operation.
      SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner includes: a dust collecting chamber 3 at a lower opening 4; a suction port 9 for sucking the air containing dust in the dust collecting chamber 3; a main joint part 5 and a subsidiary joint part 6, which have joints in the vicinity of the suction port 9; a connecting pipe 7 at the end of the subsidiary joint 6; and a joint pipe 8 formed of flexible material, which is provided in the interiors of the main joint part 5 and the subsidiary joint part 6 to connect the suction port 9 and the connecting pipe 7, wherein the connecting pipe 7 is twisted to the right and left, whereby the suction tool is turned in a 90-degree arc clockwise and counter-clockwise so that dust near the wall of a room and dust in a narrow space between pieces of furniture can be cleared away by simple twisting operation, and it is convenient for use. Furthermore, since the joint pipe 8 is freely bent and gently bent, a passage for air is neither narrowed nor bent so that wind noise can be reduced and the construction is simplified to decrease the number of parts.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which maintains strong sucking force for a long period of time and reduces a load on the maintenance of a filter unit.
      SOLUTION: A filter unit 20 for a cleaner comprises a porous PTFE membrane 21c arranged on the farthest upstream side and a nonwoven fabric 21d pasted on the PTFE membrane on the downstream side, wherein the nonwoven fabric 21d is pleated and the open angle of the pleat is 15°to 30°. By this, dust on the surface of a filter medium 21 is easily removed by adding impact to the filter unit 20, and consequently a vacuum cleaner using the filter unit 20 maintains strong sucking force for a long period of time and reduces a load on the maintenance of the filter unit.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve usability of a vacuum cleaner and durability of a flexible connection pipe by making a floor nozzle rotate in a wide range by twisting a handle at hand concerning a vacuum cleaner equipped with a floor nozzle, the angle thereof being controlled freely by the operation of a handle at hand. The connection portion 14 comprises the first connection member 19, which is installed in such way that it can rotate on the connection part of the floor nozzle body 13, and the second connection member 20 which moves at a tilt with respect to the first connection member 19.
