SOLUTION: In the method for treating the radioactive waste, the nitrate ions in it are removed by irradiating a mixture of the solid-state radioactive waste containing nitrate ions and a microwave absorbent with microwaves and also by irradiating a mixture of the solid-state radioactive waste containing nitrate ions, a microwave absorbent and a trigger which accelerates the removal of the nitrate ions through the formation of compounds with alkali metals with microwaves.
