    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating soil health which obtains the result in a short time while considering antagonism to other microorganisms in soil.SOLUTION: The method for evaluating soil health by activity measurement of pectin-degrading enzyme includes (i) adding a pectin to a sample of soil of evaluated object, culturing the sample, and measuring a pectin-degrading enzyme activity after the culture, (ii) culturing the sample without adding a pectin to a sample of soil of evaluated object and measuring a pectin-degrading enzyme activity after the culture, (iii) obtaining a difference between the pectin degrading enzyme activity measured by (i) and the pectin-degrading enzyme activity measured by (ii), and making the difference as a pectin-degrading enzyme induction activity of the soil of evaluated object, and (iv) comparing the pectin-degrading enzyme induction activity of the soil of evaluated object with a previously calculated pectin-degrading enzyme induction activity of sound soil and determining the soil of evaluated object as unsound soil when the pectin-degrading enzyme induction activity of the soil of evaluated object is higher than the pectin-degrading enzyme induction activity of the sound soil by a fixed ratio.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a greening material capable of holding ectomycorrhizal fungi or arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi at high density and sufficiently exhibiting the effect of the microorganisms when the material is applied to the soil.SOLUTION: The pH of vegetable carbide is adjusted to 5.0-8.0 by adding at least one of organic acid, vegetable juice and fruit juice to the vegetable carbide, and ectomycorrhizal fungi and/or arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi are held to the vegetable carbide to obtain the greening material. As a result, the vegetable carbide, whose chemical characteristic is normally mildly alkaline or alkaline, can be optimized as a material for holding ectomycorrhizal fungi and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi which like mildly acidic or acidic conditions. With this greening material, ectomycorrhizal fungi and/or arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi can be efficiently propagated on the vegetable carbide and held at high density, and the effect of the microorganisms can be stably exhibited when the greening material is applied to the soil.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microbial material using an earthworm excrement agglomerating soil and exhibiting a fertilization effect within a short period after the application to the soil and also which is not bulky and being easily transported and handled.
      SOLUTION: The microbial material using the earthworm excrement is obtained by adding strict aerobic bacteria containing microaerobic bacteria to an extract solution of soil microorganisms contained in the earthworm excrement (hereinafter referred simply as the extract solution). The extract solution is a liquid portion obtained by extracting the soil microorganisms by adding predetermined water, for example ionized water or the like containing no chlorine or various kinds of chemical substances, to the earthworm excrement. The obligate aerobic bacteria containing the slightly aerobic bacteria which are added to the extract solution are photosynthesis bacteria, such as red non-sulfur bacteria, and microorganism containing lactic acid bacteria or the like. When the red non-sulfur bacteria are used, Rhodobacter capsulata are especially preferable while the kind of bacteria is out of the question.
