Further an elevation device 27 for elevating and lowering along a leg 23 with a driving section 25 holding the new girder 3 is set at the end 3b of the new girder 3. Furthermore the new girder 3 is elevated to a predetermined height by using the suspension device 10 and the elevation device 27 to connect the end 5a of the existing girder 5 and the end 3a of the new girder 3 to each other. Thereafter the end 3b of the new girder 3 is temporarily borne by a stand 29 set under the end 3b of the new girder 3, and a pier 17b is constructed under the end 3b of the new girder 3, to thereby erect the end 3b of the new girder 3 on the pier 17b.
