    • PURPOSE:To draw out particles in a fluidization activation furnace in a short time without allowing the particles to remain on a perforated plate by presetting size of a bowlshaped cap put on the upper part of a hollow center pillar, numerical aperture in the specified region of the perforated plate and the inclined angle thereof respectively. CONSTITUTION:A perforated plate 6 is positioned to the center part for dividing the inside of a furnace into two parts and fixed to the upper part of a hollow center pillar 2 having an inflow port of particles in the upper part and an inversed bowlshaped cap 5 is put on the vertex of the center pillar. The inner diameter of the cap 5 is regulated to 1.2-3 times of the outer diameter of the center pillar and in the perforated plate 6 positioned in the under side of the cap 5 in the interval of 5-50mm, the numerical aperture in a range within 1.2-1.5 times of the other diameter of the cap in the center side is regulated to 1.2-3.0 times in comparison with the other part and the perforated plate is fixed so that it has inclination of 2-10 deg. toward the center piller fixing part. Furthermore the hollow center piller 2 is covered with a steam jacket 8 to pass steam for cooling and also the outer side is wound with a refractory insulator 9 to prevent heat radiation.

    • PURPOSE:To prepare the title molding at a low cost in a short time with a small-size oven, by removing a viscosity modifier from a spherical molding comprising petroleum- or coal-derived pitch and a viscosity modifier to prepare a porous molding and baking the porous molding in a particular heater for activation. CONSTITUTION:A di- or tricyclic arom. compd. (B) having a b.p. of 200 deg.C or above is removed from a spherical molding comprising 100 pts.wt. petroleum- or coal-derived pitch (A) and 5-50 pts.wt. component (B) as a viscosity modifier to prepare a porous molding. The porous molding is then made infusible to prepare an infusible spherical pitch. This molding is baked at 600-800 deg.C in a first-stage fluidized bed 2 of a two- stage fluidized bed activator 1 with a waste gas from a second-stage fluidized bed 3, thereby preparing a spherical carbon molding. After the activated molding of the previous batch is transferred outside the oven to empty the oven, the carbon molding is transferred to the empty fluidized bed 3, where the carbon molding is activated at 800-1200 deg.C with a heated activation gas at an ascending velocity not higher than the terminal fluidization gas velocity of the spherical activated carbon molding of the fluidized bed 3 and not lower than the incipient fluidization gas velocity of the infusible spherical pitch molding, thereby preparing pitch molding as spherical activated carbon molding.
