    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently hydrophilize even the interior of micropores on the surface of a porous material by preimpregnating the porous material made of a fluororesin with a water-soluble solvent having a low surface tension, replacing the impregnated solvent with an aqueous hydrogen peroxide and an aqueous solution containing a specific amount of a water-soluble organic solvent and then irradiating the resultant substrate with an ultraviolet laser beam. SOLUTION: (A) A porous material made of a fluororesin is impregnated with (B) a water-soluble solvent having a low surface tension and the water-soluble solvent is then replaced with an aqueous hydrogen peroxide and an aqueous solution containing 0.5-30 wt.% of a water-soluble organic solvent (preferably the one having 50-150 deg.C boiling point, especially ethanol) and subsequently irradiated with an ultraviolet laser beam (preferably at 190-400 nm wavelength). Thereby, the component A is hydrophilized. The absorbance of the component C (log(ε/mol-1dm3cm-1)) is preferably 0.05-5.0 at the wavelength of the ultraviolet laser beam used. The impregnating temperature of the component C is preferably 40-70 deg.C. The resultant hydrophilic porous material can suitably used for filtration, etc.
