    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the shrinkage of a hollow-fiber membrane when heated by forming the hollow-fiber membrane by spinning, applying underwater constant-length wet heat treatment to the membrane, then removing the remaining solvent and drying the membrane under the conditions shown by specified inequalities. SOLUTION: When a hydrophobic membrane or the one made hydrophilic for treating body fluids is produced, the membrane is formed by wet or dry-wet solidification, and then underwater constant-length wet heat treatment and further constant-length wet heat treatment are applied under the conditions shown by inequalities I, II and III, where RH is the relative humidity (%) of the treating atmospher. T is the dry heat treating temp. ( deg.C), Tg is the glass- transition temp. ( deg.C) of the membrane, and (t) is the dry heat treating time (min). The under water constant-length wet heat treatment and constant-length wet heat treatment are perfoemed at 80-90 deg.C for >=2min. The material of the membrane is not specially limited, a high molecular compd. used in the medical field can be used, and a material consisting essentially of polysulfone, for example, is preferably used. Further, the hollow-fiber membrane contg. a hydrophilic polymer is preferably used.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize the pore diameter of the inner surface of a membrane by using an inorg. salt-containing solution as an internal coagulation soln. when a hollow yarn membrane is produced by extruding a soln. consisting of a high- molecular polymer, a solvent and a non-solvent and/or a swelling agent from an annular nozzle. SOLUTION: When a hollow yarn membrane is produced by extruding a soln. consisting of a high-molecular polymer, a solvent and a non-solvent and/or a swelling agent from an annular nozzle by a dry or wet method, a soln. containing an inorg. salt is used as an internal coagulation soln. As the inorg. salt, any inorg. salt soluble in a solvent used in a membrane forming raw soln. may be used and a salt of alkali metal, concretely, a lithium salt such as lithium chloride or lithium bromide is used. As the high-molecular polymer, polysulfone, polyether sulfone or polyamide is designated and, as the solvent, N,N- dimethylformamide(DMF) or N,N-dimethylacetamide(DMAc) is designated.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the development of unpleasant taste and odor even when the operation of the title purifier is resumed after long nonuse by arranging a cathode plate and an anode plate in a membrane module in opposition to each other with a hollow yarn membrane in between, and applying a DC current between both electrode plates to prevent the propagation of bacteria in the membrane module. CONSTITUTION:Many U-shaped hollow yarn membranes with the end opened and fixed with an adhesive are bundled, or many hollow yarn membranes with one end opened and the other end sealed with an adhesive are arranged in a housing to form an external-force full filtration-type module. The cathode plate 30 and the anode plate 31 are fixed on the inner wall of the housing F in opposition to each other, and connected to a dry battery 32 housed in a recess 33 on the side wall of the housing F through lead wires 34 and 35. When a low current is applied between the cathode plate 30 and the anode plate 31, the bacteria in the membrane module C are sterilized, and hence the propagation of bacteria can be prevented even when the water purifier is not used for a long time.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate the fitting of an equipment to a piping line and exchange of a hollow yarn cartridge by providing the hollow yarn cartridge wherein both ends are bundled and fixed and it is supported with a supporting means, a casing, and a cover body provided with both an inlet of liquid to be treated and an outlet of permeating liquid. CONSTITUTION:Many hollow yarn 3' in which the upper ends are opened and the lower ends are closed and both ends are bundled and fixed are incorporated into a supporting means of the hollow yarn e.g. into a self-standing network casing 6 and a cone-shaped cap body 4 having a small-diameter projecting part 9 is connected with the bundled and fixed part 5 of the upper part and fixed. On the other hand, the aperture end of a casing 1 incorporated with a hollow yarn cartridge 3 is fitted to a cover body 2 which is provided with a first aperture communicated with an outlet 13 of permeating liquid in the center of its bottom wall and with a second aperture communicating with an inlet 14 of liquid to be treated. At a time of exchanging the cartridge, the casing 1 is separated by taking out a hand coupling 17 from the cover body 2 and the cartridge 3 is drawn out from the casing 1. Thereafter after inserting the new hollow yarn cartridge into the first aperture of the cover body 2, the casing 1 is fitted to the cover body 2.
