    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbing remover and a removing method capable of easily, safely and efficiently removing, for deodorization, numerous sulfuric odor substances such as methyl mercaptan, hydrogen sulfide, methyl sulfide, and methyl disulfide which are contained in gases having offensive odors. SOLUTION: An adsorbing remover is obtained for hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, sulfides, and disulfides which are contained in gases by carrying cupric chloride or cupric chloride and oxides of iron, chrome, nickel, etc., in activated carbon. In this case, such activated carbon is desirable as obtained by carbonizing a carbonaceous material, activating in an atmosphere with less than 15% by volume of steam content, and then cooling to 300 deg.C or below in the same atmosphere, or by treating a normally obtained activated carbon at a temperature of about 500 deg.C or above in a nitrogen gas and/or carbon dioxide containing essentially no oxygen and/or steam and then cooling to 300 deg.C or below in the same atmosphere. Consequently, the remover is provided with a high function as an oxidation catalyst at room temperature, showing a superior catalytic performance and a high durability, particularly in the case of using an activated carbon obtained under specific conditions with a low steam content as a support.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sensitivity-drop preventive agent, for a gas sensor, which is provided with the high adsorption and removal performance of a gas even at room temperature and whose removal function is not lowered even when moisture and carbon dioxide exist by a method wherein the compound of platinum and/or palladium in a specific weight ratio expressed in terms of a metal is carried by a inorganic porous substance. SOLUTION: In a sensitivity-drop preventive agent, for a combustible-gas sensor, to be used, the compound of platinum and/or palladium in 0.10 to 10.0wt.% expressed in terms of a metal is carried by an inorganic porous substance as a carrier. A ventilation port 2 into which the flows is formed in a sensor cap 3 at a combustible-gas sensor body 1, and the inside of a wire net cage 4 for holding of a combustible-gas sensitivity-drop agent is filled with particles as the combustible-gas sensitivity-drop agent 5. The air flows into from the ventilation port 2, it comes into contact with the particles, as the sensitivity-drop preventive agent 5, which are filled into its inside while the air is passed through the wire net cage 4, hydrogen, carbon monoxide and alcohol are adsorbed and removed, the air comes into contact with the combustible gas sensor 6, and the concentration of a hydrocarbon-based combustible gas which is contained in the air is detected without an error.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen, carbon monoxide and alcohol removing agent usable as a prefilter for hydrocarbon combustible gas sensor by supporting a platinum or palladium compound in a specified quantity in metal equivalent in an inorganic porous material having a specified particle size. SOLUTION: This agent is formed by supporting 0.01-10.0wt.% of a platinum or palladium compound in metal equivalent in an inorganic porous material. The particle size of the inorganic porous material is preferably set to be from 0.1mm to 2mm from the viewpoints of filling property to gas sensor vicinity part, contact property with gas, and pressure loss. Further, platinum amine complex and chloroplatinic acid as the platinum compounds and palladium amine complex and palladium chloride as the palladium compounds are preferably used. This removing agent is used to remove the hydrogen, carbon monoxide and alcohol vapor contained in the atmosphere in order to prevent the erroneous operation of a gas sensor, and the surface of the removing agent is preferably made hydrophobic. Further, the surface of the removing agent is preferably reformed to acidic.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To demonstrate the sufficient adsorption against a malodorous component by containing a platinum and/or palladium component and hydrophobic zeolite having specified values of silica/alumina molar ratio and the specific surface respectively and also recover the adsorption properties by heating the adsorbed malodorous component. SOLUTION: This self-regeneration type adsorbent is prepared by coating an electric heating medium with hydrophobic zeolite having the silica/alumina molar ratio of 70 or over and the specific surface of 500m /g or more, on which a platinum and/or palladium component is carried, or a mixture of some other porous substance, on which a metal component of the above-said hydrophobic zeolite is carried, with hydrophotic zeolite. As the hydrophotic zeolite is contained in the adsorbent, high adsorption properties are demonstrated to a slight supply amount of ammonia or the like as a malodorous component even under the atmosphere containing the water content. A malodorous substance is removed by the catalyst action of a platinum and/or palladium component and the oxidization generated by the adsorption properties of a porous substance by heating every given hours.

    • PURPOSE:To produce activated carbon which can deodorize a gas containing vapor of an isothiocyanic ester within a short time by carbonizing a carbonaceous raw material after forming the material into particles, activating the resultant material in an atmosphere containing steam at a specified content or less, and then cooling the material to a specified temperature or lower while keeping the atmosphere as it is, and making the material carry cerium oxide at a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:A carbonaceous raw material is formed into a granular or honeycomb or fibrous shape and carbonized, the resultant material is activated in an atmosphere containing steam within 15vol.% content, and after that, the material is cooled to 300 deg.C to lower while the atmosphere being kept as it is and mode to carry 0.1-20wt.% of cerium oxide solely or cerium oxide together with other metal oxides (e.g. an iron oxide). The activated carbon produced in this way has excellent properties to adsorb and remove malodor of an isothiocyanic ester in a gas phase. For this season, the activated carbon is suitable as a deodorizing agent for the isothiocyanic ester, and which is used as a sterilizing agent in the case domestic electronic appliances are stored in a warehouse. The activated carbon can also be used as a general deodorizing agent.
