    • PURPOSE:To detect a furnace temperature correctly without being affected by downflow slag and control the temperature with excellent accuracy by controlling the supplying amount of fuel for a combustion burner based on the exhaust gas temperature of a smelting furnace for smelting thrown-in metal to be smelted in a high-temperature combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION:A temperature sensor 13, such as a thermocouple or the like, is provided at the part of an exhaust gas outlet port 6 for a smelting furnace A to detect the temperature of exhaust gas discharged out of a combustion chamber 1 by the temperature sensor 13. The temperature of the exhaust gas is given as the total amount of the sensitive heat of the exhaust gas generated by the combustion of fuel, the accumulated heat of refractories in the furnace and the like and is related directly to a furnace temperature. The detecting value of the sensor is compared with the value of a preset optimum furnace temperature in a furnace temperature control device 14 and a control signal is outputted to a flow rate regulating valve 12 based on the result of the comparison. According to this method, the opening degree of the flow rate control valve 12 as well as the supplying amount of fuel to a burner 2 are regulated whereby the furnace temperature may be controlled toward the optimum temperature.

    • PURPOSE:To make it difficult for a slag discharging section to be clogged by providing between the melting section and slag discharge section of a melting furnace a funnel section which catches molten slag that is flowing down and pours the caught slag downwards. CONSTITUTION:A funnel section 18 which catches molten slag that is flowing down and pours the caught slag downwards is provided between the melting section 6 and slag discharging section 8 of a rotating flow type melting furnace 1. Since this funnel section 18 has the function to catch downwardly flowing slag, the slag discharging section 8 is not required to have a tilting section as in conventional slag discharging devices and it can be constituted of a vertical section (vertical slag discharging section). When ash is treated by melting and solidifying it in such a device, the molten ash flows down along the funnel wall of the rotating flow type melting furnace 1 and the molten slag that passes a throttling section 7 falls down to a funnel section and is caught there. The caught slag is poured into the vertical slag discharge section from the funnel section 18, flows down to a molten slag transportation means from the slag discharging section 8. The slag is cooled and solidified as it is transported, and it is recovered as solid slag. With this arrangement the flowing slag is difficult to develop clogging in the slag discharging section, and there is, therefore, no trouble of clogging in the slag discharging section and the transporting means of the molten slag causes no trouble in the discharge and recovery of the slag and the treatment of ash by melting and solidification can be carried out.

    • PURPOSE:To optimize the efficiency of dewatered sludge treatment by a method wherein dewatered sludge is restrainedly burnt in an incinerator to convert it into exhaust gas and incinerated ashes containing therein unburnt organic substances and then the incineration ashes are melted by heating within a whirling type melting furnace to recover them as slag in a melted state. CONSTITUTION:By carrying out the restrained combustion or the thermal decomposition of dewatered sludge in, for example, a fluidized bed type incinerator 1, the dewatered sludge is converted into exhaust gas G and incineration ashes A containing therein unburnt organic substances. The exhaust gas G and the incineration ashes A are separated, and the incineration ashes A are discharged, together with air for combustion and supplementary fuel, into a current type melting furnace 8 to be burnt and melted by heating, thereby recovering the ashes A as slag in a melted state. That is, the incinerated ashes A containing therein unburnt organic substances, which are discharged together with the exhaust gas G from the incinerator 1 for the dewatered sludge, are arrested and collected to a cyclone 2, and thereafter they are supplied to the melting furnace 8 together with incineration ashes A' which are transferred from a dry type electric dust collector 5. In the melting furnace 8, the incineration ashes A are mixed with air to form a solid and air two-phase flow and are blown into the furnace 8 to be whirled, whereupon they are melted by heating to be turned into slag and recovered.
