    • PURPOSE:To make a job for continuous winding achievable by means of an idle winding at the side of a bobbin in this wire drawing device as well as to enable it to cope with a large variation in linear velocity due to this idle winding. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber wire drawing device is equipped with a winding mechanism 2 and a dancer 1. This winding mechanism 2 is equipped with two bobbins 14a and 14b, and each idle winding wheel 18 is installed in these bobbins 14a and 14b. In addition, when a linear work 15 is transferred from the bobbin 14a on one side to the bobbin 14b on the other, an idle winding is carried out by the idle winding wheel 18 and then it is transferred to the idle winding wheel 18 of the bobbin 14b on the other. On the other hand, the dancer 1 is equipped with a swing dancer sheave 6 and an accumulator sheave 7, and when the linear work 15 is wound up by a bobbin barrel part 16, any variation in linear velocity is accommodated by a movement of the dancer sheave 6 as well as when the linear work is transferred from the barrel part 16 to the idle winding wheel 18 and vice versa, a fact that it is too much for accommodation by movements of the swing dancer sheave 6 alone is detected by two proximity switches 12 and 13, and thus an accumulator sheave 7 is shifted in order to cope with it.

    • PURPOSE:To cause a taper liner not to be moved by resin pressure by inserting the taper liner into the hole of larger diameter in the state where the annular projection part provided on the outer peripheral of the taper liner is plunged into the annular recessed part provided on the inner periphery of large diameter. CONSTITUTION:In the state where the annular projected part 4d provided on the outer peripheral of a taper liner 4 is plunged in the annular recessed part 3k provided on the inner peripheral of the hole 3a of larger diameter, a taper liner 4 is inserted into the hole 3a of large diameter. Consequently, heating and cooling are repeated at each start and stop of a crosshead device, whereby a small clearance epsilon is generated between the bottom surface 4c of the taper liner 4 and the side 3h of a cartridge 3. Even if molten applying resin enters the clearance epsilon, and the total pressure of the resin acting on the bottom surface 4c and the tip part 4b of the taper liner 4 is changed, and then the taper liner is pushed to the side of a distributor 9, the taper liner 4 does not move to the side of the distributor 9.

    • PURPOSE:To feed a coating material into a pressurized die continuously and make continuous coating possible, by providing accumulators in a pressure feeding passage of the coating material between a metering pump used as a pressure feeding means and the pressurized die. CONSTITUTION:One end of a base material 2 for an optical fiber is melted in a resistance heating furnace 3 while heating and drawn into an element wire 5 for the optical fiber. The outside diameter of the element wire 5 for the optical fiber is then measured by an outside diameter measuring instrument 6 and fed back to a capstan 9 to give a given outside diameter. The element wire 5 is drawn into a wire at a specific speed. Thus, the element wire 5 for the optical fiber drawn from the base material 2 is passed through a pressurized die 7 and coated with a given coating material 14 on the outer peripheral surface thereof. The coating 14 is stored in a vessel 15 and fed to the pressurized die 7 by a metering pump 16. Accumulators 17 are provided in a pipe 18 between the metering pump 16 and the pressurized die 7, and therefore the coating material 14 fed from the metering pump 16 under pressure can be kept under a constant pressure.
