    • PURPOSE:To reduce the man-hours for molding and to easily form a casting mold having high accuracy by embedding a consumable pattern into molding sand, evaporating and consuming the pattern and pouring a molten metal into the cavity formed thereafter. CONSTITUTION:The pattern 1 is fashioned of the block of dry ice and is embedded into a molding flask 7. A runner 2, sprue 3, etc., are set thereto and molding is executed by using quick setting self-curable molding sand 4. A flow off hole 5 is provided to the flange part in contact with the cope surface in the upper part of the pattern 1 and the molten metal 8 is poured through a funnel 6. The pattern 1 and the runner 2 are molded and are sublimated and consumed upon lapse of the prescribed time to form a cavity. The molten metal 8 is successively cast into the casting mold 1 from the lower part and the casting having the shape exactly complying with the shape of the pattern is obtd. Casting is thereby easily and simply executed. Since the pattern itself is strong, the deformation thereof is obviated. The product casting having intricate shapes is thus easily cast.

    • PURPOSE:To safely and easily obtain a satisfactory cooling effect by embedding a pipe coatd with a film around micro-vent holes into a titled casting mold and packing dry ice into the pipe. CONSTITUTION:The cooling pipe 4 bored with the micro-vent holes on the outside circumference is coated with the film and the granular dry ice is packed into the pipe 4. The pipe 4 is embedded into the vacuum casting mold in a metal flask 1. The pipe 4 is coupled by a joint 5 and is removable as desired. The inside of the flask 1 is evacuated by suction through a suction hole 3 from a suction chamber 2. The film coating the pipe 4 is expended and the dry ice evaporates and introdes into the casting mold through the small holes bored to the pipe 4 with a product 7 is cast. The dry ice cools the product 7 together with the sand and is conducted into the chamber 2 from which the dry ice is discharged. The above-mentioned film which prevents the release of the dry ice till pouring of the molten metal into the mold and easily melts even at a low temp. is preferable.

    • PURPOSE:To form a secure shell layer on the surface of a solid carbon dioxide expendable pattern without molding a film on said surface by coating the surface of said pattern with sand added with a low viscous emulsion and packing dry sand onto the outside thereof and subjecting the same to a pressure reduction. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the solid carbon dioxide expendable pattern 4 is coated with the sand 2 added with the low viscous emulsion and the dry sand 3 is packed onto the outside thereof in a molding flask 1 having a reduced pressure construction. Such pattern 4 is expended by evaporation to form a cavity and the pressure in the cavity is reduced from a suction hole through a jacket 5 continuously until the pouring of a molten metal into the cavity is completed. The emulsion sand 2 is prepd. by dissolving vinyl acetate, etc., in a solvent such as xylene, mixing the same with mixing the sand with such emulsion. Said sand cures by reacting with the carbon dioxide generated during the sublimation of the pattern 4 and forms a casting mold of high strength on the surface of the pattern.
