    • PURPOSE:To properly and surely maintain the furnace pressure in an ignition furnace and also to reduce the unit requirements of fuel in the ignition furnace, by regulating a damper provided in a wind leg so that pressure in a wind box right under the ignition furnace is adjusted to the prescribed pressure. CONSTITUTION:A raw material 14 placed on a moving pallet 26 is ignited by means of the ignition furnace 32 provided above the pallet 26 and then is subjected to suction of air by a exhauster 36 via a wind box 34 and a wind leg 38 provided right under the pallet 26, by which fuel in the above raw material 14 is burnt to produce a sintered ore. In a Dwight Lloyd sintering machine having above-mentioned constitution, the furnace pressure in the above ignition furnace 32 is detected with a pressure detector 50, and the pressure in the above wind box 34 is set up by means of a control device 52 so that above-mentioned detected value of the furnace 32 pressure is adjusted to the desired pressure. Based on the above set value, the opening of the damper 46 in the above wind leg 38 is controlled by means of a control device 56 so that observed value of the pressure in the wind box 34 detected by a pressure detector 54 is regulated to about -100--500mmH2O. In this way, the furnace pressure of the ignition furnace 32 can be maintained at a value in the range of -0.1-0.5mmH2O.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the quality and yield of sintered ore and to reduce electric power for releasing air, etc. by decreasing suction negative pressure via an air box upon the sintering raw material charged and laminated on a pallet and moving thereon smaller in the initial and end periods of a calcination reaction than in the intermediate period. CONSTITUTION:Air permeating resistance is low in the initial period 1X for calcination of the above-described sintering raw material moving on a pallet 1 and therefore the suction negative pressure is determined low and the flow rate of the suction air to be passed through the sintering layer is decreased to realize the gentle calcination to obtain a heat holding effect. A wet zone is generated in the sintering raw material layer and the air permeating resistance increases in the so-called middle period 1Y of calcination from the end point of the period 1X up to just before or near the completion point of calcination and therefore the flow rate of the suction air is increased to improve productivity. The suction negative pressure is decreased in conformity with the decrease in the air permeaing resistance to decrease the flow rate of the suction air in the end period 1Z just before the completion of calcination which is the end point of the period Y or up to an ore discharge part 1B beyond the point near the same. As a result, the sensible heat of the sintered ore is effectively recovered.
