    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the service life of a refractory by embedding an arc-shape rectangular steel plate which is curved in a concave shape in the inside of a furnace opening part into the refractory at the corner part of the rectangular furnace opening part in a mixer car, and forming iron shells at the furnace opening part in the double state. SOLUTION: The furnace opening part 10 is formed by fitting the side wall iron shells 21, 24 in the furnace opening part at the outside of the iron shell in a furnace body so as to form the rectangular opening part. Then, on the upper surface of a receiving plate 23 arranged at the inside of the side wall iron shell 24 in the furnace opening part, the arc-shape steel plate 22 curved in the concave shape in the inside of the furnace opening part near the corner part of the furnace opening part 10 is elected and embedded into the refractory 30. In this way, the cooling of the refractory 30 is improved by shortening the distance from the working surface of the refractory 30 to the arc-shape steel plate 22, and also, the lengths of an anchor and a core metal can be shortened and the reinforcement of the refractory 30 is facilitated.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the rotational abnormality of a non-driving roll with the difference of the frictional reaction between the roll contacting objects of a pair of upper and lower rolls at the time of the rotational abnormality by arranging the torque limiter applying a pressing force from one side of roll end surface and arranging the rotation detector of a sprocket in the other side of end surface to the sprocket installed the belt whose outer peripheral surface comes into close contact with the non-driving roll around it. SOLUTION: The belt 6 is closely installed around the sprocket 5. Since both rolls are smoothly rotated at the time of the normal operation without the rotational abnormality of a pair of non-driving rolls 3a, 3b, the frictional reactions from the upper and lower rolls 3a, 3b become equal, and the sprocket 5 is hardly rotated. However, when either roll is not in the rotating state, since the reaction of this roll becomes large, the upper and lower balance is lost and the sprocket 5 is rotated. Therefore, the rotational abnormality of the non-driving roll is very simply detected by detecting this rotation with the rotation detector 8.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the change range of long side width of a mold in a limited strand interval by dividing mold supporting frame in the existing two-strand slab continuous caster into the width direction of the cast slab, interposing an expanding devices in the dividing parts and making shiftable of the mold in the long side direction of the cast slab. SOLUTION: The mold supporting frame 4 arranged to face oppositely with the center line 11 of the continuous caster between, is divided in the width direction of the cast slab and the expanding devices 5 composed of a jack or a cylinder, etc., are set in the divided parts. Then, this frame is made movable in the width direction of the long side 1 of the mold under condition of fitting the conventional jacks or the cylinders 3 for moving the short sides 9. By this constitution, the casting width of the cast slab can be changed in the wide range without changing the distance from the strand center to the center of the continuous caster. Further, four pieces of the expanding devices 5 are wholly made equal to keep the strand center to the constant, and it is desirable to set wheels, etc., so as to smoothly shift the supporting frames of the short sides of the mold.
