    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an extra-low nitrogen Cr-containing steel in short time and at a low cost by adding Al into molten Cr-containing steel after roughly decarburizing in a reduced-pressure vessel, raising the temp., blowing H2 gas and thereafter, vacuum-decarburizing into an extra-low carbon range. SOLUTION: Aluminum is added into the molten Cr-containing steel in the reduced-pressure vessel after roughly decarburizing, and oxidized into Al2 O3 , and the temp. of the molten steel is raised to a prescribed temp. by this oxidation heat. In this temp. raising stage, H2 gas is blown into the molten steel, desirably at >=2.0Nm /hr of flow rate per molten steel ton. By this method, fine H2 gas bubbles are acted as denitrification reaction site without rising the C concn. at the initial stage to effectively execute the denitrification. Thereafter, the dacarburization is executed to the desired extra-low carbon range by the ordinary vacuum decarburizing treatment.     • PURPOSE:To improve a ventilation and productivity in a cupola by using a formed hollow cake or iron core inserted formed coke as the coke used at the time of operating the cupola. CONSTITUTION:At the time of producing molten iron by using the cupola and steel scrap as the main raw material, the steel scrap and lamp coke are alternately fed into the cupola as layer-state, and by blowing the air from a lower tuyere, the steel scrap is melted by combustion heat of the coke to produce the molten iron by carburizing with the coke and the molten iron is tapped off. In this case, by using the formed coke having venting holes penetrating the inner part or the formed coke having the iron core penetrating the coke as the lump coke, the ventilation of coke layer is improved by the venting hole of the coke and the hollow Part by melting and flowing out the iron core. Therefore, the small granules having no ventilation which can not ordinarily be used, can be used as the steel scrap, and high pressure operation can be executed and blending ratio of the steel scrap in a low cost is improved and the molten iron can be produced in good productivity and the low cost.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the oxidizing loss of Cr and to efficiently execute de-P and de-S in molten iron by separating an oxygen--containing gas blowing position onto the upper surface of a Cr-containing molten iron at a place keeping a prescribed distance from the tip position of an injection lance for flux. CONSTITUTION:The flux is injected to the molten iron containing >=3% Cr, and also, by blowing the oxygen-containing gas onto the upper surface of the slag, the de-P and the de-S in the molten iron are executed. Then, the blowing position (d) of the oxygen-containing gas is set to (dc) value or more obtd. with the equation dc=0.25H+0.65D (H: distance from the tip part of the oxygen- containing gas blowing lance onto the molten iron surface (m), D: vertical depth below the molten iron surface at the tip part of the flux injection lance (m)) and the tip part position of the flux injection lance is set to the position being apart from the upper surface position of the slag, at whose vertically underposition the tip part is contained. At this positional relation, the oxygen- containing gas is blown onto the upper surface of the slag remained on the molten iron surface.

    • PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance and surface roughening resistance of a roll by injecting molten metal as foggy in inner circumference of casting metallic mold and executing centrifugal casting to outer shell layer of the roll. CONSTITUTION:In the inner circumference of cylindrical mold rotating at high speed, the molten metal for forming the roll outer shell layer is injected as foggy to deposit under semi-melting state. Then, intense centrifugal force is acted to the deposited metal layer, and blow hole between drips of the semi- melting metal is crushed, to fill up the molten metal. As pressure is raised with the centrifugal force, generation of gas at the time of solidification of the molten metal is restrained. By this method, the development of blow hole defect in the outer shell layer of the roll is prevented and the casting structure in the deposited layer is made to fine. Successively, core material is cast in inner part of the outer shell layer to form the roll. As the fine structure having uniform thickness is obtd. and the development of the blow hole defect can be prevented, the wear resistance and the surface roughening resistance of the roll are improved.
