    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a metallic coating film showing excellent white metallic gloss and strong flip-flop property in which aluminum flakes are oriented parallel to one another by applying a compsn. containing non leafing aluminum and an org. solvent on an unhardened coating face and applying a clear coating material thereon. SOLUTION: A base coating material is applied directly on a proper base body, for example, a metal or plastic outer sheet of a car or on a hardened coating face formed by applying and hardening a base coating or intermediate coating material such as electrodeposition coating material. The objective surface as the unhardened coating face where the compsn. is to be applied means the unhardened coating film surface of the base coating material. The compsn. to be applied on the unhardened surface contains non leafing aluminum flakes and an org. solvent. After the compsn. is applied and left to stand at room temp. to be hardened, a clear coating material is applied on the formed coating film. The clear coating material is a liquid coating material containing a base resin, crosslinking agent and org. solvent, in which, if necessary a solid color pigment and the like is compounded.
