    • PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance of a traveler for a spinning machine by forming a composite plated Ni layer contg. prescribed hard and fine particles on the surface of the traveler. CONSTITUTION:In order to improve the wear resistance of a traveler for a spinning machine, a composite plated layer is formed on the surface of the traveler. The composite plated layer consists of an electroplated Ni layer 2 formed on the base metal 1 and a composite plated hard layer 3 formed on the layer 2 and contg. hard and fine particles 4 deposited in an Ni alloy as the matrix. The Ni alloy is an Ni-W-P alloy, an Ni-Co-P alloy or an Ni-P alloy.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the title traveller with its contact with yarns as point contact, excellent in heat releasing effect and wear resistance by putting the surface of a metallic traveller circle to satin finish and by providing the resultant surface with a special composite plating layer followed by heat treatment to impart the surface with a specified hardness. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a metallic traveller circle at least to come into contact with yarns is put to satin finish, and the resultant surface is provided with a composite plating layer with hard fine particles (pref. of silicon carbide, diamond, aluminum oxide or zirconia) as eutectoid matter and a chromium- plated product as matrix, followed by heat treatment to impart the resulting deposit with a hardness HV of 1200-1600, thus obtaining the objective traveller. It is preferable that the surface roughness of the deposit fall within the range RZ=1.5-3.5mu in terms of 10-point average roughness.
